Postby IndyTom » Sun Mar 30, 2008 11:48 am

OK Scott.

Its official now. Put us down for space 74. My wife got the system to work this morning and we have confirmation in hand. We will still be in a tent, but I am hoping to have lots more done to my tear so I can have pics to share and get advise.

As far as deep fried pickles..... you better believe it. I haven't made any of those in years.

We haven't done any camping in a couple of years, so I guess I need to dig out the DO's and get brushed up on using them. Maybe even dinner tonight.

See you guys later.

Bring it with ya scott ! We'll dub it Peter Pipers pickle works and shock the Hell out of some folks.

The ones I had were crispy dill pickle slices , batter dipped and deep fried just like onion rings. Anyone out there with secret ingredients we will try them all.

Haven't made them before but I will try about anything once.

Scott,

Simply put, a deep fried pickle is a slice of salty dill goodness bathed in batter and fried to a golden brown. It is a dish that only a southerner could come up with. Growing up in Mississippi, you could always get them at Sonic Drive-In. They were called Pickle-O's and were never on the menu, but they could always make an order for you.

If you want to bring the fryer, that would be great. I was trying to decide which piece of CI to bring and how to heat it. The fryer would sure solve that.

I am starting to get excited now, I am really looking forward to this camping trip.

Here you go, I got an email and some Pics from Kurt.
He's in Madison getting our campsite reserved for the August gathering.
Looks like the campground might give Salamonie Lake a run for it's money as for view.

I'll keep you posted on any further info.

There's still spots available for August, He's getting 10 sites and we'll be doubling up so there's still space

I'm lookin' for pointers on how to fix em. Do you remember any of granny's recipe or secret ingredients. I'm willing to admit I'm wingin' this one. Anyone else with any Ideas we will probably just try them all and have a taste off.

Looks like he's getting a little damp. Grey skys and looks cold. Hope it warms up some day!

Another wasted weekend this week. Fighting a cold and sore throat and didn't feel like fighting the damp weather. Finally about 2 PM Sunday it started to look half way tolerable but I was out of the mood. Went to bed at 7 PM the sun hadn't even set. Oh well maybe next weekend.

But he does deserve a big  for making the trip and being there in person, which is the only way to reserve sites. Couldn't ask for a better Director, and this weekend doesn't matter he's pretty good about picking nice weekends for gatherings.

I did get some scraping done on mine this weekend, and all the carpet and padding pulled out. It's gonna have to be replaced

I'll use Vic as a Guinea pig. She has acid reflux and doesn't do spices well either. If you remember at the shivaree she took up her chilli before I got to doctor ours up, just for that reason.

OK..... everybody talking about fried pickles got me to thinking about pickled eggs. I'll have to make up a batch for the weekend. I make too many for just me and my wife.. and she doesn't really care for them. Nothing goes better with a campfire than pickled eggs.
