By coincidence, someone in another forum was asking about exactly this unit today. They saw it at Costco (in Canada), where the price is the same as at Tool City.

At half the price of the Honda EU2000i, and similar specs, it seems like a promising alternative.

I believe they are the 'made in China' version of the Honda EU-2000i

Great price but I don't have enough confidence in the unit to say if it's really a good deal or not - Time will tell. If you're still using it with no problems 5 years from now, you probably got your money's worth - If not, you'll wish you had bought the Honda

Yep made in China, the engine is Mitsubishi (Japanese), not sure how it will perform with a two year manufactures waranty I couldn't resist. I'll use the heck out of it and if it breaks I'll buy another solar panel.

Well I recieved my generator today and was suprised how well it's made. It's alittle bigger than expected. Put oil and gas and it fired right up. Seams pretty quite. It ran my pet cool with out a problem, on smart run it idled up for a few secounds when I turned on the pet cool but went right down to an idle. So far I'm happy with it.

Keep us posted on your generator. It looks like it could be a real bargain if it holds up. That's how Kipor got started, they undercut Honda and Yamaha prices like crazy and then raised their prices like crazy after people figured out they were pretty good generators.

...ditto on that...I have a buddy that bought an 11hp 6000watt Mc after Katrina...it ran for 2.5 weeks, non-stop after Rita, running his whole household...noisy and large but did it's job.......

Honda eu2000i I have has a strange situation.... I took the side cover off while it was running,, and when I put it back on, the suction from the engine actually holds the side on without the screw.. meaning, once it is close to being in place, some suction pulls it in (could be either engine air draw, or cooling fan, not sure which).. which seems to mean that it is designed to run that way... but seems strange. The gen runs fine, but have never seen anything designed like that.

I really like this gen set although it seams alittle larger and alittle more noisy, compared to the Honda 2000. It sure does everything I need, it also runs my Miller 130xp welder. I will bring it to the IRG 2.0 so alot of you can make your own judgement on this unit.

I have a 2000 watt Mcculloch generator made by kipor. It is chinese made and a copy of a honda eu2000is. It worked great but wouldn't power my 13.5k btu air conditioner on my old travel trailer so I got a eu3000is. But the kipor unit worked great. Worth the money I paid $325 used...

regarding the eu2000 situation I mentioned above. The suction that holds on the side cover is intentional. What happens is the suction pulls air through the generator/alternator to keep it cool.

So, even if you think that that is is beneficial to remove the side cover to improve airflow to the engine... don't. You will overheat the alternator and possibly fry it.

Also, there is a yahoo group that does nothing but share informative on the eu2000 generator.... and is very informative.

I had to use my generator last weekend when we got hit with a bad storm. So I used my generator from about 8:30 pm till 12:30 am when the power came back on. No problems handling my small fans, TV, one light and my frig. It idled up once when I pluged in the frig but went down to a idle. Pretty happy with it.
