My wife and I enjoyed meeting everyone. Ed & Linda - sorry we missed you. I'm sure our paths will cross in the future.

We got plenty of good ideas. My wife now thinks we don't need a standy TTT after all.

Out teardrop plans may be on hold for a little while. When we got home, we noticed that some of the ceramic floor tiles in our kitchen had popped off in a straight line. I think we've got a crack in our slab foundation. Looks like I've got some more weekend projects coming up before the build starts!

I think Dave has won the caption contest. So Charles, be like Paul Harvey and let us hear the rest of the story.

"You did what behind my teardrop?"

Well, here it is Monday, 8:17P.M. and we just got home. We left around noon on sunday, went about 20 miles and broke down. Took the rest of the day trying to get AAA or Good Sam to get us a tow. AAA wouldn't do anything and Good Sam finally sent a wrecker and had us towed back to Hocha Town to spend the night. Said they would have a mechanic that could fix it next morning and would pick us up. Needless to say, if a mechanic in those little towns knew how to work on a MINI, they would not have the parts to fix it. They towed us about 130 miles and told us we had to leave our TD, they would not haul it. Forget that! The nice wrecker driver took the TD and drove us to a little town with the mechanic working out of his back yard. We just about gave up before we finally found him, nearly out of town. Of course he could not fix it. I called them back and by this time I had talked to 4 different people who each started from the beginning again. I spent most of the time on hold listening to the loudest and most obnoxious music. I tried to tell them that dealers were the only ones with parts but they refused to haul us that far. (Edmond in OK.) I told them we had a mechanic in Tulsa so they called him. An hour and a half later I called them back to see when the wrecker was going to pick us up, got a new girl, started over again, was told they couldn't haul us that far. By now, Grani was mad! Well, they said o.k. they would get us a wrecker and have us towed to Tulsa. Finally! I waited about 30 more minutes and they called me back saying they can't take us to Tulsa but they found someone in Poteau and would take us there. Now, this is only about 45 miles from where we broke down to begin with. I tried to talk to them, explaining that we were tired of being towed all over the east part of Ok. and there is no way they would have the right parts to fix it. They said well that is what they were going to do and I said no way were they taking us back where we came from, knowing that the car could not be fixed there. So, we parked the car and TD in some guys back yard in some town I never heard of before and headed home in one car. They then pulled a real boo-boo, they called me back to see if I was satisfied with their service. Needless to say I blew up and let them know just what I was thinking. I was so mad I was shaking and Gene was just egging me on. :x Tomorrow we have to drive 3 hours back to pick up Jon's car and TD. :?

Well, sorry about the book, just had to get it out of my system and tell you what happened. I enjoyed seeing everyone and seeing friends I hadn't met yet. I even got a kick out of the balloons, well not quite, Danny put me behind a tree. Had a great time, thanks to everyone who made it so great!

Grani,
WOW.................sorry you had so much trouble. Don't ya wonder about people sometimes.

Ok....here's the rest of the story.
Betty (Park Host) told me on Friday that the Park Ranger was going to come by sometime on Saturday so we could discuss the possibility of doubling up in sites for the future. I guess I failed to tell Charles he was coming by. Soooooooooooo right when we started the Potluck supper I looked up and saw the Park Ranger. I walked over to his car and Charles happened to look that way and thought it was a Police Car (that's when the picture was taken). Betty came over to join in the discussion and Charles came over to see what was up. He realized it was the Park Ranger. I realized he didn't have a clue what was going on. Well, as it turned out the discussion was a great success as we now have the real official ok to double up in the future.

Actually, I just managed catch Charles and Danny off guard, which makes for great photos.

However, I was actually talking to Charles when he saw the "police" car -- and you talking to the "officer." His actual words were (IIRC) "I don't like the looks of this one bit." He then made a beeline for you and the "officer." He was NOT a happy camper.

I saw the "police car," too, and immediately felt an urge to hide.

Danny was probably wondering if his wife had enough money for bail.

I'm Home!!! 12:45 Tuesday
I had a great two week trip. Now it's time to get to work
Thanks to everyone for welcoming an Iowan to Beavers Bend again.
After leaving the park at 12:30 Sunday I crossed over into Arkansas and wandered north. About the time I needed a pit stop I came across Devil's Den State Park. It is beautiful so I spent the night. Monday I continued to meander north through Missouri. I got on I35 just south of KC. By early evening I was at the Iowa border and rain so I spent the night at a rest area. Rain all night and rain the remaining 300 miles :( The up side is I didn't feel like driving thru Des Moines in the rain so I got off the interstate and saw parts of Iowa I hadn't seen before.
Grani sorry about your trobles. You told me that would be how things went. By the way, gas at the station was the highest I paid (or even saw on the whole trip). It was $3.35 On the way back most were $3.13 to 3.19. Of course as usual in my town it's $3.25. :x
Well enough rambling. Thanks again to everyone

I have this as the official count.
27 sites
25 teardrops
3 tents
48 people
1 cat
4 dogs
equals a great weekend...............

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend as much as we did. I somehow did not make it to every campsite to visit. I appologize to the new attendies for my not visiting with you all. We need longer weekends..............

Linda only thing missing is one dog fight.

Hey planovet I have this stuff you spray it on the fabric of a old plane and it turns the fabric hard, looks like we could use it on your tent and all you would need is wheels and a hitch.
