Here is a brain twister.

3 people were traveling together. They decided to stop for the night. They saw a motel from the freeway so they made there way to it. When they told the desk clerk they wanted 3 rooms they were told there was only 1 room left. They were tired so they took it. The clerk told them it would be $30 for the night. Each put in $10. They went to the room as the bag boy followed. They told the boy "Thank you" and shut the door. When the boy got back to the front lobby, the desk clerk told him that he had over charged the 3 guys by $5. He gave the boy 5 $1 doller bills and asked him to return it to them. On the way to the room the boy decides he will help him self to a $2 tip. He knocks on the door and hands the guys each $1 and explaines that the had been overcharged.
Now here is the problem with this story. Each guy put it 10 bucks. Then they each got 1 buck back. Now they have each contributed 9 dollers. 9 X 3 = 27 plus the 2 buck the boy kept is 28,29.... Where is the last doller?
I am pretty good with math but I do not have the answer to this. I am sure some one is wise enough to see the missing doller.

You subtracted the $3 from the $30 but not the $2 that the busboy took. So it would actually be like this.

$9x3=$27+$3=$30

The $2 was never subtracted from the amount, so why would you add it?

Actually, it turned out to be a $25 room. Double yuck.
