Full Size Gas Grill Recommendations

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

I have had my Weber silver A for a lot of years. Its true that it has been discontinued, but the grill is still avible just with a different model name. Mine has the cast iron grates not the stainless or ceramic ones. If you look around you can find one. Good Luck

I would personally cook with charcoal most of the time and do, but when the wife wants to cook something she doesn't want to mess around with the charcoal stuff...after working a 10-11 hrs day to support my habits she just wants to push a button and throw it on. Besides with chicken breasts and hotdogs I am not that picky how it gets up to temp...steaks and ribs are a different story.

I was leaning towards this one...are Porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates just a fancy way to say cast iron??

Genesis E-310 has been totally re-designed. It features 3 stainless steel burners, and comes in three different colors: black, dark blue and green.

Attractive redesigned Genesis model
42,000 BTU per hour
Three colors from which to choose : black, dark blue and green
Stainless steel frame
637 sq. in of cooking area
2 heavy-duty front locking casters and 2 swivel casters
3 stainless steel burners and 6 tool holders
Porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates
Precision Tank Scale
Designed and engineered by Weber in Palatine, IL

I like the last one...but where is it built???

American made would be nice also!

I have to put my hitch on the Blazer today, but if I get done in time I guess I have a good start to go looking. Sam's...Home Depot and Sears are kind of on my way home!!

CD where did you get your CharBroil Commercial at?? The only place I seen was Lowes, but usually if Lowes has it Home Depot does...I would have to add $50 for gas for the closest Lowes!

It sounds like people have had pretty good luck with the models suggested...I guess I just need to go get my big a$# ....shoes out there and start looking!!

Thanks for the suggestions!1
What is a good BTU/hr to be looking for??
It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.

My family has had good luck with the Stainless Steel gas grills you can get from Costco. The price is good, as I've been really happy with the quality. They also had a natural gas conversion kit for my model, so I don't have to worry about running out of propane.

I got my CB Commercial at Lowe's. They even had it on sale.

Mine is a four-burner 46,000 BTU with a 10,000 BTU side burner (good for a pot of beer and onions to put the brats in when they are done).

They make a "Quantum" series now, too. It has infrared cooking grids.

I don't know about CB's infrared quality, but infrared cooking is used at a lot of prime steakhouses.

I use my gas grill as you spoke of -- great for doing a meal without a lot of preparation or cleanup. And, for chicken or seafood, it is much easier to control heat on gas grills.

Don't buy a CENTRO!!!! (If you can even get them down there..)
Also check the grills... If they are wavy or zig-zag, they are much harder to clean. straight up and down and across are much better. If I had the cash I would buy a new grill in a flash.

I have been using a Brinkmann Grand Gourmet for about three years now. It has been a proven work horse for me. I have done everything from London Broil to Shrimp. It keeps steady heat and enough surface space to cook a dozen burgers. I can say it gives me better flame control than my ovens at work. It does the job until I have a better place to build my own.

Brinkman works for me...I bought a nice big stainless steel three burner from WalMart a couple of years ago. It works great, real hot burners...lights everytime...even has a burner on the side for keeping beans & sauces warm. I think it was in the $200-$300 range...not a bad price.
The stainless steel needs to be kept clean and covered...it gets dirty with shows all the dust & pollen if left alone. But there's not much paint to discolor from the heat.

One of the things that appealed to me on the grill I bought is that the four burners are lined up from left t0 right, where most three-burner grills line the burners up front to back.

I will often cook with the two outside burners on high, and the two inside burners down low, or even off. I can get even cooking without a lot of flipping of the food.
