I saw this on moneycentral yesterday...

Yikes! Oil at $117 a barrel. It has to go down from here, right?

Wrong. In the short term -- say, the next two years or so -- we're looking at bad news about global oil supply that could take the price of a barrel of crude to $180.

Needless to say, today's $3.50-a-gallon gasoline would look cheap if oil prices hit $180 a barrel. At that price for a barrel of oil, gasoline would cost somewhere north of $5.50 a gallon.

Eventually, that's true. This can't go on forever. But for the moment, we need more gas. I have a teardrop and a Serro Scotty that I need to move to Missouri.

Nah, building refineries cuts into quarterly earnings, which is how the CEOs make their millions. And, up until recently, there was no profit in drilling for oil here, when you can buy it in the Middle East for a lot less than you could drill for it here.

The CEOs of most oil companies still don't want to invest in domestic exploration and refining, because they are going to retire in the next five to ten years, and want to make as much as they can before they leave. Investment in new supplies or infrastructure cuts into their bonus money. How is a man supposed to retire on a measly two or three-hundred million bucks?

Some folks are so quick to blame government and regulations, that they completely overlook the most basic of rules -- if you want to know the truth, follow the money.

I say go camping now the price of gas is cheap!

When I went to Glacier NP a few years back I thought I was getting ripped at $1.75/gal. I'll save gas money when I am too old to go anywhere and enjoy myself.
It is all a matter of perspective and how you want to spend your gold. :vroom:

Of course if you are out of gold you can alway do like John Muir and go for a walk.

Heck, it's almost cheaper to fly! I just booked tickets for July that were $265 each for a 2800 mile trip (each way). So if my car gets 25 mpg, thats 112 gallons of gas. 112 gallons at $4.00 = $448. No wonder the airlines are going broke!

Look up "Brown's gas". Or how about "on board hydrogen generation". Or look on" Himac.com" for the 100 MPG carburator. Rex research will open your eyes a bit also. If you really want to get pissed look at what happened to several of the inventors of these ideas Paul Patrone inventor of the GEETS system of fuel cracking is incarcerated in a mental hospital. Stan Meyers poisoned. Tom Ogle killed under mysterious circumstances and the list goes on and on. Big oil is going to make sure we wait till the last drop of oil is gone before they loosen their strangle hold on our wallet.
