newby with a size issue

Postby smoothking » Sat Apr 26, 2008 2:43 am

Hello. I'm about to begin my first teardrop. I have built boats and a cabover camper before. I had planed on building a regular fifth wheel camper, but came across a show on travel channel about teardrops. I'm hooked. I gotta have one. My project will begin soon, but I have a problem. I'm married and have 4 kids. Ten year old twins, a four year old, and a 19 month old. Ad to this the fact that my wife and I are both rather large people, my td will have to be twenty foot long! any ideas or advice on this matter would be appreciated.

You also take a tent for the bigger kids. And if your worried about size, then maybe a teardrop isn't for you. And Welcome aboard.

P.S. The large wording is just in case you can't read the normal size print.

Maybe a cabin car type trailer instead of a teardrop would work for you. It has the galley in the back and you could fill the inside with bunk-beds.

Image to the playground. We have a lot of people with children who are now building so let me first request that you share whatever you decide.

Now 10 year old twins in a tent that is attached to the td with a really good alarm. My kids needed a lock at that age. God what they got into.

Here is a beginning list for you. Also check out the Hall of Fame for builds.

Beevel's super size weekender.

This one will only need a small mod to put in two babies too.

Grant's teardrop for 4 will again only take a small mod for babies too.

Mike's Et is large enough for a crowd and so is mine. It is all in how you manage the packaging.

Also EZ's Rimple can be made bigger and it will be great.

Well, the wife decided i should use Beevel's weekender as a good idea spinner. Thank for the links, guys. The rough drawing i made doesn't look EXACTLY like the weekender, but the idea is about the same. The good news is, the wife was more O.K. than I thought she would be about the twins in a tent idea. Oh, and I dont have the already built cabover anymore  . Thanks to first wife and a well placed match. It seems she wasn't as into the upcoming divorce as I was.
