Nascar or Camping ?

Postby emiller » Thu Apr 10, 2008 10:59 am

Being a Nascar fan our new Fastnal supplier offered me Nascar tickets for this weekend but I instantly said I can't I'm going to the gathering in Why. AZ. Did I make the right choice  Sure I did

If the choice were NASCAR, or passing a Kidney Stone, I'd go for NASCAR. :o

However, I do like hotdogs and apple pie (and race cars that turn left AND right).

Well, I guess now I'll bolt the front door, put on my body armor, and wait for a response from the NASCAR fans.

You can camp all year long. The race in your own town, with free tickets doesn't happen very often. I would have went to the race. But that's me.

If enough people go to the nascar event that means more camping spots for the rest of us.

We usaully get free tickets, it's nice working at such a high end airport. Always get to see the drivers as they fly in and usaully companies like Fastnal, Penske, Golfstream and others give a certain amont of passes. And I like the November race here in Pheonix.

Listen to the race on XM satelite radio or serius satelite radio. There is a station that you can hear the race and hear the driver talk to his/her crew.

You want me to pick? That is so hard!
Well...
It would be NASCAR, because I go camping when I go to the Brickyard 400. I love NASCAR.

Too many wheels! I'd rather watch a motorcycle Grand Prix or superbike race. And if it starts raining NASCAR wimps stop the race. You'll never see bikers stop a race because of a little precipitation.

Besides camping goes right along with rally events. The enduro fits in the pickemup bed nicely when tugging Dogtown.

Besides, if I need an excuse to drink excessive quantities of beer--I can think of a lot better excuses than NASCAR.

Hey

When I lived in Greensboro, NC; the company I worked for housed the airplanes for Bobby Labonte and Kevin Harvick and I used to work on the Petty's airplanes, Mike Skinner, Ward Burton, Richard Childress team aircraft. It was always kind of cool to see who you might see. I used to do a lot with Ward Burton's pilot. One other tidbit, we also helped design, build and flight test the new Honda Jet

I would have taken the free tickets. Oh, I also lived about 15minutes from Martinsville raceway but never made the race there.....Stupid me!

Why hasn't anyone found a dead bigfoot? When was the last time you found a dead deer, bear, coyote, fox, squirrel, etc. that died in the woods.........Hmmm.

Understand exactly where you're coming from Danny. I'm not a NASCAR (nor any kind of auto racing) fan; mainly I just don't 'do' crowds, at least crowds bigger'n we have at LCG. I've given away tickets to sporting events, concerts, etc., just because of the crowds. We kinda like solitude, or at least breathing room :D
