This is an actual sign at a gas station near us. Unleaded is currently $3.70. How are the prices where you are?

O.K. Now I'm discombobled. I was taught there were 2 cups inna pint, 2 pints inna quart, 4 quarts inna gallon. When converted...4.5 L inna gallon.
Now.. You 'Mericans are telling me that there are only 3.785 L inna gallon....Does that mean your cups, pints and quarts are not the same as ours? No wonder my recipes don't turn out.
I guess when we go to the bar and order a pint.. we get waaay more beer than you guys do..(and better tasting too...)!! 8)

John, as you may recall from high school the Murrcans had issues with the British, so after the breakup they went and invented their own pints, quarts and gallons but retained the standard ounce. Were as we still think the British are ok so we used "Imperial measurements" 20 oz pints, 40 oz quarts and 160 oz gallons so you are correct, 1 Imperial gallon = 4.54 liters however U.S. pints are 16 oz, quarts are 32 oz and gallons 128 oz or 3.78 liters.

And just by the way, here in B.C. when you ask for a pint in the pub you get a U.S. pint. 16 oz. Confused yet?
I am.

The cheapest gas here (yesterday) is $3.89 a gallon for regular. But it seems to go up a few cents every day or so.
Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind? Ask yourself these simple questions every time you are in doubt about any action.
