Margaritas? I love Chili's but....

I'm not an expert by any means, and pretty much novice when it comes to mixing drinks ! haha

I love the Presidente margaritas at Chili's and I know they have Presidente Brandy in them....

I LOVED TonyJ's mango margaritas at LCG last year...

so help me out, so I don't drink up TOO TOO much tequila during the try and error process, but what is a really good , smooth margarita 'recipe'.

Nothing beats a Wabo-rita
Waborita 1:
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce Cointreau
2 ounces Cabo Wabo tequila

Waborita 2:
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 part Cabo Wabo tequila
3 parts soda (7-up, Sprite, etc.)

Waborita 3:
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce triple sec
2 ounces Cabo Wabo tequila

Waborita 4:
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce Cointreau
2 ounces Cabo Wabo tequila
Splash of Grand Marnier

1 part Sauza Tres Generaciones Plata
1 part Hiram Walker Triple Sec
2 parts freshly squeezed lime juice

Shake with ice and pour into a margarita glass

But for summer camping, frozen made with a mix is pretty good

Here is a very simple recipe for the blender...

1-small can of MinuteMaid frozen concentrated limeade.

Dump that in the blender, then fill the empty limeade can with Tequila, and dump that in. Then, half fill the can with either Triple Sec or Grand Marinier, and dump that in.

Top off the blender with ice, and blend until smooth.

Bob's your uncle.

When backpacking, we used to make them with Tequila and Tang, but I wouldn't recommend it.

My only mod to that is a full instead of a half can of Triple Sec.

But they taste better when mixed with a garbage disposal!

When I can find it I use a Mexican version of Triple Sec, Controy. Licour De Maranjas.Their version:

4 parts Controy
3 parts Tequla
2 parts lime juice.

I make up a mix using frozen limeade and frozen lemonade, only mixing enough water in to get the taste that I like (on the tart side).

For one margarita I use 2 oz of good quality tequila, 1 oz of Grand Marnier (or Triple Sec), 1 fresh squeezed lime and anywhere from 1/2 cup or more of the mix. I like mine shaken with ice. I sort of do mine to taste, just keep shtasting spuntil sheems it spright!

Mel prefers margaritas on the rocks over frozen ones. If they have them, she'll get a Mexican Martini with Herradura or Patron tequila, there are a few places in town that serve them.

I found a recipe online for the Mexican Martini at Trudy's, a TexMex place in Austin. You can also get them at PF Changs. Yeah, a Mexican Martini at a Chinese restaurant? The reason is because the chain was started in Austin.

Wow, olives and olive juice in a margarita! How wierd, unusual and interesting at the same time! I'll have to try it, at least once. And I just adore Patron! That has to be one of my favorite tequilas! I also prefer mine on the rocks. Something about the frozen ones seems a little too foofy to me. Then again I am used to having tequila straight up with a little salt and lime. Of course, as age has caught up with me, I haven't been able to do that in quite a while, so on the rocks, mixed in with some other yummy liquid, will have to suffice. I don't do hangovers as well as I used to when I was in my twenties. And we all know how tequila can catch up to you like a freight train out of nowhere! You keep on sipping until that train comes barreling at you.....

1 Can Frozen Limeaide
1 Can full of your favorite Tequilla
1 Tablespoon of Sugar
Blend all together with some ice
Add salt or sugar (your preference) to the rim.
Relax and enjoy.


I think that train hit me a couple of times. I didn't even hear the whistle blow.
