Whether you agree or disagree with Gage's method of answering a question by his non-beat around the bush answers should not upset free thinking members of this forum. If he offends you just ignore him. I accept Gage as he is and enjoy his posts as I do others. I met Gage last year at the Dam Gathering and he really is an okay guy. He has an opinion and I want to hear his, his way, just like I want to hear others. Ira was very offensive and he sorta has a fan club here :? .

It's offensive when people try to impose that PC stuff on others. Keep posting Gage. :D Danny

I'm not offended at all, I'm as free thinking as it gets, just trying to mess with him a bit, but to some peaple who have never met him, he can be a little rough at times. Isure don't want him to stop posting, he has some sweet tears. 8)

Gotta go with Danny on this... Not sure when people got the idea that they get to go through life without getting their feelings hurt.

I read a topic on here just a few days ago about bearings... They said that you need to look for the old grumpy guy that is rough and abrasive and knows what he's looking at. You'll be sure to get the right answer from him.

Gage, Stick around... I too will need questions answered.

Now i'm gonna run away before I get spanked... Sorry staff. lol

p.s. Hey Kykid, this kind of thread hijack isn't normal. Your one of the lucky ones.

Lets clear something up....

I never said I wanted Gage to stop posting  and I would love to meet Gage at a gathering some day and hopefully I can. We both like TD's and old cars and I would like to learn from him because he has probally forgot more than most people on this board know about either subject.

My whole point to my other post was...nobody should come in here and be afraid to ask a question about anything....that is why this site is here.

Danny...one thing about me if we ever meet in "Meat Space" is you will find out I am far from PC and say what I think, but I adjust it according to the people and situation at hand. Personally I know Gage is going to rough, abrasive and right to the point, somebody new here probally isn't going to get that. I don't like people beating around the bush and working in the grey area it just wastes my time.

Wimperdink...I pride myself to go through life not intentionally hurting someones feeling and I just did by stopping here!! ;)

Everyone have a wonderful day and stay safe!! :)

What elmo said. I'm not PC either but I agree that anyone shoud feel free to ask any question (and get a decent answer), no matter how stupid someone deems it to be. That's what we are here for, to learn from other's experience and mistakes. Gage may intimidate some of the newbys but his posts tend to spice up things and make the forum interesting to read. And his knowledge on teardrops is impressive and valuable. Anyway, he can't help it if he is from the grumpy and abrasive generation. ;)

I hate to burst your bubble but there are stupid questions out there. And with Perry being a member of this board for some two years now, I was a little surprised at the question. And you should read my post again. The only person (s) that said anything about stupid was you & Perry. The problem with your generation is as you grew up, you were told where to go, how to get there and what time to be there. And then you were told what to do and how to do it. So today for the most part, your generation doesn't know how to think things out and in turn, learning something. But it is so easy to ask a question. When I built my teardrop, I had never built anything like it. Oh, I've built a couple of work benches and then a bread box in high school but other than that I knew nothing about wood working. I just used common sense and thought things out. When I couldn't figure it out on my own, I then asked the question. But very few.

Oh, and there is another way to attach the 'T' molding. That would be 3M double back tape. The automotive industry has been using it for years to attach all the outside chrome on your automobile.

So lighten up Mary K and learn how to smile a little.

Gage, You should read my post again. In it, I never said you said there were stupid questions. But since then, you have said it, and I still have to disagree. So, you didn't burst my bubble.

As far as the "whats wrong with my generation". That's a hard one to reply too. Its more of an opinion than a general fact. I mean, obviously my generation can think for themselves and can make decisions on their own. Otherwise there would be no progress made. We would be living just like we did in "your generation" and we would not be having this conversation, via the Internet.

Regardless, my point of this conversation has nothing to do with generation gaps. And everything to do with common courtesy. Forgive me for being sensitive to other peoples feelings and voicing my opinion when I feel someone has been discourteous. Especially when it happens to a new member of the forum.

Oh, And, I do know how to smile, I do it often. Just not at the expense of other peoples feelings.

I don't think the term "Free Thinking" can be applied to a person that thinks it is okay to belittle another member of this forum. And, if i see it, I can not and will not ignore it when it happens.

I also accept Gage as he is too and I am sure he is a great guy. But that does not stop me from voicing my opinion.

WOW, did I do this?

Postby Kykid » Wed May 07, 2008 12:44 pm

A little background to start with. Yes I did join here a couple of years ago. Then kind of forgot about this place. When I did stumble back on to it I had to figure out how to get back in here. With a little help I made back, but I had to get someone to hold my hand. I did just start my build this Jan. The only reason I asked my question is that I see a lot of creative ways people figure out to do things. Besides being taught there are no stupid questions, I was also taught to listen what people have to say because you never know what you might learn. To all of you I say thanks for the welcome & I bet you can't wait to see what I might ask next. (':)')

This is my point too. So many times I see the follow up "SLAP" of sarcasm, that is funny a lot of times. However when it's a new person it just ain't right.

I love this forum. I've begun to think maybe I love it too much and need to get a life. I check it multiple times throughout the day. It's hindered my own progress on my TTT, and other tasks I need to do. Maybe I just need to take a hiatus like: Ira, Brick, Heikki, Madjack etc.

I used to not post for fear of getting jumped on... but I've been around for a while now, and my opinion should be heard too.

Let's just be nice to each other eh?

Pix

Postby Kykid » Wed May 07, 2008 4:45 pm

Hey, I decided to sit here long enough to see what it takes to get a few pix loaded. You can even see the T-molding on the door!
Thanks for encouragement from all of you. I haven't learned to embed the pix yet but if I use my head I bet I can figure it out.(';)')
