Roof spars bend in the middle!!

I cut it 3 times and it is still to short, how come?

Is it like 1/4, and it's so thick that it's pushing up on the spars so hard that the spar can't handle it?

Yeah, it's 1/4". I didn't think that it would push the spar up that much. I am using 1x2's laid on the side. It gave up some strength...... actually alot of strength. This is my first build so I am learning alot as I go.

If I'm understanding the problem correctly, cut some flex lines in your ceiling panel as shown in this post: http://tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=3346
That might help the spars stay straight...

Yeah, you got kind of a double whammy. Thick inside skin, plus you rotated the spars. (The Cubby plans have them going the other way--the the pressure rests on the narrow side of the spar.) Also, if you used plain pine for the spars, that's another thing.

If your spars are bowing up, that means your walls are now pinching IN at the top. As suggested above, if you use the same 1/4 material (or similar) for the outer skin, and REALLY take your time attaching it, the spars should straighten.

Have a friend or two help you, because it may mean having someone push out on the walls at the top (or down onto the spars from above) while you attach the outer skin.

And don't feel too bad about learning as you go along. I have nightmares about the mistakes I know I'm going to make.
