Recycle tailgate ramp?

Postby Hinermad » Fri May 23, 2008 5:13 pm

Folks,

A couple of places local to me sell 5 x 8 foot landscaping trailers with tailgate loading ramps. I'm thinking of getting one, removing the ramp, cutting off the back 2' of the ramp, and welding it to the trailer to make it 10 feet long.

Do you think it's worth the effort to get a ten foot trailer? Buying locally saves me a fair bit on shipping or pickup charges.

Dave, you could do that, but it will probably involve moving the axle location to handle the new dimension of the frame for correct tongue weight as well. It could be done however. As far as being worth it, it all kinda depends on whether or not you are doing the work or having it done and what it's worth to you. Doug

Doug,

Thanks. After reading elsewhere I'm beginning to think it's not worth the effort.
