I have a extra 10x10 with sides also. We might use them together over our pitch-in dinner if we need to block the sun?! or snow!

I am getting excited just reading the posts. I have a 10' X 20' shelter that I could bring if enough folks think it may be of use. The only thing is that I will need help setting it up. We can set it up in a central location for best utilization. Just a thought.

:QM

Perfect. We can use it for a Pot luck dinner shelter (if needed). :applause:

Please bring it along.
Thanks.

I've got a 10'x20' tarp that with some zip ties could be put up on the side of the 10'x20' shelter, between that and your sides we could wrap the three sides that face the worst of weather IF we have any.

Ok then, it's settled; I will bring the shelter. I will load it tomorrow and have it just in case.

The Deepest spot in Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes is 1,333 feet or about 222 fathoms. This profound depth could easily contain the entire 1,250' Empire State Building, even with a 50-foot-tall King Kong perched atop.

Alright Scott, Bob and Kurt
How about a count down until August. You know it will be here really quickly. Kurt, how many are registered for Madison? I will be planning closely as I will be returning from a fly fishing vacation the preceding week! How well received were the door prizes at Brown county? Got a few more in the works! Top secret items!

Damn Danny that 10week away. I don't plan my life that far out I might not be here. But it was a hoot wasn't it. I liked mother natures lazer light show Sat. night.

Maybe we need a white elephant exchange this time. Any thing camping or build related. You can't buy it you have to HAVE it and all who donate get a draw. Might be a hilarious mix of crazyness. I've got some clearance lights I bought at a yard sale and real nice cabinet doors. We can kick it around with the victims ( oop's I mean fellow campers) It's good for cheap entertainment and a laugh.

The door prizes were fun. People like getting "free" things.

The count for Madison is still at 13. Others have expressed interest and we should have a few more by August.

One more week to work and then it's off to the Adirondacks for the Fish Creek Pond gathering (near Lake Placid).

I'll be busy planning and packing for this 10 day trip.

Can't believe that Jeanie (the mystery wife) is actually getting excited to camp again.

Last day of school for her today. She can "wind down" (or up) for a week before we leave.

The "top secret" items can be de-classified later.

Looks like 89 days 'til Madison. :applause:

Kurt,

Are you still using the same teardrop that you had in '04? What's the tow vehicle now? the Mustang?

Mike, same teardrop as you last saw. My new tow vehicle is a 2008 Escape with all the goodies.

It's just too expensive to drive the Mustang. Premium fuel is crazy. :?

Ford says they are selling a lot more 4 cylinder vehicles... But I don't imagine you got one of those. They have hybrids too... but I'll bet you didn't get a hybrid. I'm guessing you go the V6 Escape! ???

Mike...

P.S. Now that you are retired, are you going to build another teardrop, AND if you did, what would you build?

Mike, I still have a 2001 (4cyl/ 5speed) Escape that I've pulled the teardrop with many times. I bought a V6 this time and believe it or not; it gets better milage than the 4 cyl.

The 4 cyl is 4WD and the V6 is a FWD. maybe that's part of the difference.

Yep, I'll bet that's it... FWD vs AWD.

No thoughts on a second teardrop?

Sure, lot's of thoughts, but the timing is all wrong. My retirement (from my day job) starts in August and I will see how t goes for the rest of the year. The bug to build another could easily hit me in over the winter and in the spring of 2009.

I've added several things to mine and am still in the "rolling experiment" stage after all these years. We'll see what happens.

Announcement

The date for the Salamonie gathering is set for Oct. 10-11.

I have secured site #222 for the sake of the view, but the inside of the circle would be great for the gathering group.

Check the map attached for sites and reservations.

Reservations (at this point) should not be a problem, but don't wait too long into the summer.

For those of us who have never been , The main entrance to the modern camping area is just off of highway 105. Old what's her name and I decided to waste the last of the cheap gas ( under $4.00 ) in the Scion and drive over and eyeball the camping area and pick out ours. We were coming from the West on 24 out of Peru and Turned onto 524 at Lagro. We drove right to the primative camping entrance drove up and down and around and around a little over an hour. No DNR staff anywhere the few people we asked about the modern camping just thru up their hands. I know where it is but I can't tell you how to get there. We stopped and asked a local couple out mowing and they were finally able to get us to the dam we drove across and made a hard right and guess what we are back at primative camping . Right where we were 1/2 hour and 35 miles ago. We did stop at the visitors station as we crossed the dam and grabbed a site map . I am generally good with maps and directions but this snipe hunt had me ready to burn the damn map. ( no pun intended)Finally we tripped over a DNR guy and he marked the map and we made a 30 mile drive out in the country Thru Lincolnville and over to 105. Yes we finally found the main gate with less than 1/8 of a tank of gas left we were finally able to eyeball the sites and after making 3-4 loops around the campground area that Kurt had on his post we decided on a couple choices. So use S.R. 105 and don't be a dummy like me and come in on the wrong side. I felt like a real idiot !
