Newbie reportiing for duty !!!

Postby Walt M » Tue Jun 03, 2008 7:53 pm

Hey all, I'm Walt from NH. I got on line last week, looking into those things called Teardrop campers. I ended up here it was like following the yellow brick road only with many Wizards. With the last of four youngins almost off to college I look forward to spending some time with the little lady ( maybe the wife too ;) traveling. As soon as I get my dropings put together. I must admit looking at all the things I have to do to keep you all informed on how it's going, will be more difficult than building the trailer. I'm sure I'll be talking to you all soon enough. Blessings

Hi Walt,

Welcome to the forum. No real stress about keeping us informed. Just use one finger to snap some pictures of your build as you go. See, now wasn't that easy. Seriously though, questions are welcomed, answers are sometimes optional, but we try real hard. Get in and have fun.

See you around.

Hi Walt, welcome aboard. You have the right attitude, build a teardrop and go camping with the sweet wife. Right on. Ask if you need any pointers, and post those pics when you find the time. No pressure, we just love to see progress pics, as it brings back memories of our various builds.

Perhaps you could tell us where abouts you are located, gosh, you might be a next door neighbor to me or another teardrop enthusiast. Good luck on your build, and give the sweet wife a hug for me for being so willing to share your one-of-a-kind camping trailer experiences.

Roly, Funny you should be one of the first to say hello. I've really enjoyed the pics of your TD. I'm from Plaistow, NH about 40 miles north of Boston , MA Just over the border. I've ben a carpenter for about 27 years now but for the last 14 years my partner and I have been manufacturing modular classroom the typical size is 14'x60' I could put almost 17 TD in there. Talk to you soon. Blessings.

Mike, if we're building Teardrops, aren't parts of TD's droppings? If I could spell  (maybe that's why it didn't come across as funny?)

ok, so I have to admit I was a bit confused, when I saw "Aunti M" I thought he made a quick wit about my Wizard of Oz reference. However now I've got it. What a great forum you folks have got here. I just talked to one of my suppliers and he tells me he'll hook me up with all the 2"x2" tube i need for my frame. I'm trying to convince my better half to let me order the axle. to get started. :)

Use the " K" word !

Mine thought I had lost my mind and watched me day after day and shook her head from the kitchen window. UNTIL I mentioned "kitchen" she then magically appeared at my elbow and couldn't have been more helpful. She had some great ideas and was a big help.

BUT Please don't call it a kitchen the folks here will laugh you off the page remember it's a galley.

Welcome Walt!

Remember to take lot s of pictures! You will find they will help you immensely when you forgot the exact location of something that you can no longer see, like wire to your reading light that myseriously attracted a screw.

Welcome Walt!

It's a small world...saw you are from Plaistow. I was born in Exeter and raised in Sandown (where my mom was born & raised) and graduated from Timberlane in the late 70's. Dad was born in Plaistow, where his family owned a huge chunk of land and what was then the Granite State Spring Water Co (eventually bought by 7-up) and ran an inn. My favorite food is fried clams and Larry's was always the place to go. In fact Larry and his wife went to school with my parents. Even though I have now lived away from there longer than I lived there, I will always be a New England gal.

I get back that way every couple of years and am planning on traveling back with my family (and the teardrop) this October.

Thanks for the quick trip down memory lane. Again, welcome to the forum.
