SLO Gathering 2.0 Sept. 11-13, 2008 at Lopez Lake Campground

California, Nevada, Utah & Arizona includes Nor. Cal, So. Cal, and Arizona Tearjerkers Chapters

:applause: Good. Martha and David are returning for SLO 2.0! It'll be a pleasure to camp with you again.

Martha wrote:The gal I talked too only made me pay for the 1st night & reservation fee, so go figure.

Chris, "Italia", told me that her experience camping at Lopez Lake is that "rules" seem to vary a little from ranger to ranger and from  one reservation person to another. You got a good deal. :D 8)
Now, back to making sawdust and building walls out in the driveway, this sunny California day, so I can go camping in a :vroom: this summer.

I'm sorry to report that I won't be able to make the SLO gathering this year. This year's camping is going to be severly limited by my bank account and the increasing cost of fuel. Unfortunately my calendar for this year filled up some time ago.

Hi, Steve/Reddiver. How I wish I had it finished or nearly finished. There's much still to do. I just finished making the wood side wall frames (thank you for your help Dan and John!) and rough cutting the outside plywood. The floor is built, but not yet attached to the trailer frame. Have lots of parts in stock including insulation, epoxy and fiberglass cloth, windows, fenders, fantastic fan, battery charger, and a fuse block. LED lights and wire are due to arrive this week from DelCity. I'm signed up for IRG, so really want to press on and have a campable teardrop for it. Much of the cabinetry like doors and finish work can wait till later. It's possible. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. By Sept. the goal is to have a nearly "done" teardrop.

How's your's coming along Steve/Reddiver? We'd enjoy camping with you again.

Joanne, we'll miss you. A lot. It was great meeting you and getting to see the Desert Dawg last year. You, and Ma3tt, generously provided us all with one of the best highlights at the MDO gathering by doing your tag team Dutch Oven demo. Inspired by you dozens of cast irons ovens filled with delicious food, almost as if by magic, appeared for the Saturday evening pot luck. A busy schedule and a thin purse are all too understandable. If your circumstances change the invitation is open.

Waffles, yea man I guess it's time to practice making complete waffles, last year my waffles tasted pretty good, but their overall appearance was tragic. My waffle iron doesn't make deep waffles but thin heart shaped ones, I think the deep round waffle irons are more forgiving for rookies such as myself. count me in for the Waffle Off . Maybe I can find a deep round Iron to practice on.---Dan

I will stack the sides next week. floor and fame are ready. bench work on the sides is pretty much done. I am anxious to get the walls up ad start playing with the inside.
I wont be able to make SLO 2 have another trip scheduled.

I generally hate having to eat my own words, but this is one time that they taste pretty good. It looks like I'm going to be at the gathering after all. In spite of all the fun we had with the raccoons last year and the subsequent harassment I've experineced from my "friends" (I'm under pressure to rename my trailer the Coon Dawg  ) I'm really looking forward to the weekend.

Joanne

P.S. - Did I mention that I've hooked up an electric shock device like the Nautilus submarine in 2000 Leagues Under The Sea. It worked for Captain Demo, it should work for me.

Well I'm glad to hear Joanne is going to make it this year and I promise I won't bring any raccoons from MDO. But I need to warn everyone, I've camped there twice since last year and there weren't near as many as last year, so I'm hoping they haven't moved to Lopez...

Joanne:
Since you will already be in CA there is no point in hurrying home. You can hang around and make SPAMBOREE 9 Sept 26-28. Between Teardrops and Dutch Ovens you would have not problem finding a driveway to park in for ten days.
And I am sure you could come up with a DO recipe to win the Spam Cookoff. The 5" DO might be perfect for a can of Spam. :applause:

SLOTears sounds like a winner to me! I think we'll have to start weekly meetings at Steve B's house so he makes it to IRG with something besides a tent pitched on a flatbed trailer, I drove by couple of days ago and didn't see any walls standing... (maybe it's in the garage now???)

Steve is closer then even he thinks. Look in my album and you will see him hard at work.

saw Lopez beaver camp site lots of room if we fill up. asuming the other sites are not taken.

I will down load some shots later but the camp sites will fill up real fast if I show the better ones. hope we have a rain by then the grass is yellow now.

I did not reserve a spot yet wanted to come home and see what was here and what was taken. now I know and will soon register.
