Hatch Side Moulding Question

Id like to know what you folks used to fasten the hatch - side moulding?

If I use screws they will come all the way through..

I was thinking of using pop rivets but thought to ask first before I persue it.

I used pop rivets to fasten the moulding on the sides of my hatch. Not sure about pics, but you might be able to see some in my build photos.

Is there a certain type of rivets or is it just a matter of preference on this?

I just used what I happened to already have at the time. Don't recall now just what they were!!

Heikki, we used pop rivets as well...we sandwiched the ply with the molding on top and a flat AL strip on the bottom...used a flat headed rivet and put them in from the underneath side, so they wouldn't interfere with the seal and the protrusion on top was covered by the insert that goes in the top molding....

How do you "transition" the edge molding from the main body roof/edge into the hatch area? Do you just cut it off and leave an ugly almost unfinished break? Is there some sort of end cap that fits to close off the edge molding? On one example I looked at it seemed as though the center plastic strip covering the screws was continuous onto the hatch area. Any thoughts?

...and scroll down, there are a few pics, fairly close of the bottom, front finished trim...what we did is cut the insert an inch or so long, trim down the edges a bit and folded it under the rest of the insert...it gave it a nice smooth edge and basically filled the gap under the insert...they actually make a cap for the end of the insert molding but you havvta end the molding short to have room for it to fit....

I used screws and T nuts, they hold very well and end up flush on the underside. Aaron

Nice pics madjack, that is a sweet looking teardrop. What did you use to trim the inside cabinets?
