Hello from New Mexico

Postby Jazzy Lynn » Mon Jun 16, 2008 11:50 pm

Hello everyone!
I just learned about teardrops a few weeks ago and was thrilled when I learned that my small car could actually pull one! Could it be true?? No more sleeping on the hard, cold ground in a soggy tent?? WOW!! Needless to say I have spent evey waking moment searching for a teardrop that I could call my very own. I first looked for a used one but couldn't find one that had every thing I wanted so I turned to the manufacturers. The one I am very seriously considering is called Big Woody Campers. The pictures on the web site are beautiful and I've talked with the owner on the phone several times. He seems very genuine and honest and has given me a lot of good advice. I'm just scared about spending so much money on something I've never seen. Does anyone know anything about these teardrops? I would like to hear your opinions on this before I jump in.

I've read several of the posts on this forum and teardropers really seem like a great group of people. I look forward to getting to know you all and hope to meet you someday camping.

Till then,
Jazzy Lynn

Hi Jazzy, welcome to the board. Perhaps someone that is familiar with the Big Woody campers can fill you in on their pros and cons. I checked their website and it looks like you can get as plain or fancy as you like. I suggest you try to get to a gathering and check out some of the different styles and bells and whistles. Perhaps someone in your area has one you can look at.

Post a message in the general information section and see who responds. There are much finer (and more expensive) teardrops than the one you mentioned, I guess it is up to you regarding how much you are willing to pay. Good luck on your search, see at the campground.

Hey Jazzy,

Welcome to the forum.

Don't buy anything sight unseen... Take a couple days off of work, make it a long weekend, and drive over and look at it! :D

Hello Neighbor :)

Welcome you'll have fun here cuz all the people are so nice.

I wish we had more options here in NM. I want to build my own Teardrop cause all the ones that I looked at online don't really suite me.
Plus I'm a major cheep skate and can't come up with the thousands that they cost. I figure I can buy things a little at a time and then build when I have it all together.

Like Aunti M said visit us at the lady teardroppers thread we can chat it up.

Have Fun

Do you ladies have a never ending thread, like the "Am I a thread killer" thread? :?

Hi Lynn,

Welcome, welcome, welcome.
Don't believe the "Big Woody" folks have visited the forum, I could be wrong though. You might ask them about that. Their tear drops look pretty good, $5,400 seems like a lot for the "standard" model, in my humble estimation. Here's a picture of their "Ultimate" tear. I didn't even look at the price.

Thanks for the good advice Mike. I am actually going to see one on Monday. I know someone south of me who has one and he has invited me down to see it.

Thank you all for the nice welcome. I look forward to visiting with you all. Mandy, I'm also in Albuquerque. If you decide to build a tear, I'd love to give you a hand. I've got a few power tools and I'm not afraid to use 'em. I'm heading out to the thread you ladies mentioned. See you there.

Good you can add to my collection of 1 hammer, 1 drill & 2 clamps.

The reason I'm laughing is according to everyone here you need like lots and lots of clamps.

I know what you mean about the clamps. I've seen the build pics. Best I can do is a couple of 4" C clamps. I don't think that is going to help much.
