Anyone familiar with this 5x8 trailer?

I hope this works nice for my upcoming Benroy.

How about sharing the reason you decided to return the HF trailer. Perhaps you are planning on a 5 x 8, which wouldn't work with the HF unit. The one you ordered seems a bit pricey, and 100 bucks for shipping seems a bit steep. However if it suits you fancy, that's what is important. Good luck on your build.

Yes the HF was a 4x8. I would have kept it but the boxes were so torn up I couldn't tell if all of the parts were there or not.
After that I decided just to look for a 5x8, really what I should looked for from the start.
We'll see how this one looks. I give a report once it arrives.

5x8 trailer

Postby pigcooker » Sun Jul 06, 2008 11:22 am

I got one from Northern Tool at the end of May, The picture in their catalog is the same one. Their price was $479.00 but it shipped free. E- Bay price is much better, Northern raised price in new catalog to $529.00. The trailer went together easily, moving the axle location took a little extra thinking but no big deal. The spring mounts are not a single unit for each side but two seperate pieces for each side. More drilling, different and longer bolts were needed, still no big deal. Trailer was made in Taiwan however, but most everything today is not made in the U.S.

The eBay price is $365, plus $100 shipping plus $30 tax - Pretty close to $500. You probably didn't have to pay tax from Northern

It doesn't look any more subatantial than the HF trailer. True, it is a foot wider, but the payload is less - Same tires and hardware.

I bought my HF 1740 on sale for $299, but I used a 15% off coupon so I paid $255 plus tax. The assembly instructions come with a complete inventory down to every nut, bolt and screw - Only took about 15 minutes to count everything . . . . probably less than he spent boxing it back up

It was obvious from the condition of the box that the frame was incomplete. Still waiting on my HF refund. They said they never received it back and would track it.

I finally got HF to agree to refund my money. They claimed they didn't receive both boxes back. Truth is, there was very little left of the second box when they tried to deliver it to me.
This has been quite a hassle and I'm hoping they refund my money soon.
