If you decide to buy it and paint it as you've stated, make sure the paint you use has the highest available UV protectant rating.

Back to the drawing board!! I love this site. You guys are keeping me from making some expensive mistakes. Since I'm painting the roof any ways, it looks like the double 1/8" is the way to go..... if I can find it. At the one local lumber yard (not big box store) I checked with so far, the man I talked to looked at me like I had suddenly sprouted a third eye in the middle of my forehead when I asked about Baltic Birch.

Tinksdad , I have FRP on the roof of the Dew Drop Inn. It has been over 2 years now & I have NO problems with it. It is still shiny after a wash & the dirt does not stain it. It currently is sitting under a cherry tree & I don't worry about it. It sat outside all winter , & has been outside all this spring & summer too. It has NO yellowing or brittleness to it either. I did have it on the sides but changed over to a woodie look last fall. I like it alot!!! It is very easy to work with & bend . It takes FRP glue very well too. It stays cool to the touch in the sun also. Good luck with your build!!!
