1946 Kit for sale

Postby dguff » Wed May 25, 2005 9:33 am

I have started building another tear and my 1946 Kit Kamper Deluxe is going up for sale. You can see the rebuilding photos through my Hall of Fame Jerome Guffey's 1946 Kit. I used the original frame and axle, original wheels, doors and galley lid. Everything else has been replaced with new wood and aluminum. The galley is finished with simple shelves. It is registered in CA as a 1946 KIT.

I am still planning to go to Minden if the Kit is not sold by then or I could deliver it anywhere between Eureka CA and Minden NB about the dates of the ITG. Asking $4400. You can send me a private message, email or phone me at 707-445-2176. I will be glad to answer any questions.

Thanks,
Jerome :D

Click on "Hall of Fame", upper left corner of almost every page.

Say Jerome, is that trailer hitch tube a 2 x 3 or a 3 x 4?

The hitch tubes are two round tubes that appear to be about 2" in diameter. They meet and are welded to a plate which is triangular and where the old serial number plate is riveted. The coupler is just a regular coupler which takes a 1 7/8" ball.

Jerome, I meant the rectangular tube on your new trailer shown in picture #May24-03. Looks like a 2 x 3 to me, but I"m not sure. It's been a while since you took that picture, so I'm assuming you've finished and used the trailer. Is that tube working out? I was planning on buying a 3 x 3, but am concerned about weight.

Chris,
That tongue is 2x3 1/8" wall. Should be plenty strong based on Angib's tongue strength thread. The pictuer was actually taken on Tuesday, May 24. I have since changed the captions for the Modernistic album.

Jerome,
Will the new chassis you're building be bolted only or are you going to go back and weld it? Are you using the bolt together plans from an earlier chassis discussion thread? I too want to build a Cub/Modernistic and was thinking about building my own frame but have no welding skills or equipment.

Thanks Jerome. That's what I thought, but couldn't tell for sure. My intentions are to build a mondernistic/cub (but interested in Ben Roy)...........but I'm just playing the sponge right now and soaking up all the assorted information I possibly can................just as you and everyone else has done, I'm sure. I'm headed to Minden with my camera and plan to note every idea I possibly can. Hope to see you there.
