Newbies in North Carolina

Postby Sunflower40 » Sat Jun 28, 2008 11:00 am

Hi Everyone,

We've been lurking around this website for a week or two while shopping for a tiny travel trailer. We just bought a 1982 Sunline Sunspot yesterday, and we're so excited! :D It has pretty much all the optionals that Sunspots came with: the table, the refrigerator, the stove, the sink & water system, the rock guard, and awnings (the hardware is original, but the awnings aren't). It even has an enormous air conditioner...which we will probably only need to turn on for a few minutes at the time before it turns the little Sunspot into an icebox!

Anyway, we're excited to be part of this forum and thank everyone who has posted about the Sunspot. Your information helped us make the decision to buy this camper. We look forward to meeting everyone...and to camping! 8)

Welcome Sunflower. I have only seen sunspots in pics so my knowlege is limited, but would be happy to look at more (Auntie M will chime in soon enough with a pic request to). Enjoy your new trailer.

Would you take some photos of the sunspot for us? There's been a lot of questions over the years about them, and no one we knew had one, until now.

We need pictures of everything... you can put them in your album. Need to know how easy it is to use the album? just read this:
http://www.mikenchell.com/pichelp.html

Let us know when you start getting your photos uploaded. I for one, am looking forward to seeing them.

Mike...

The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

Welcome to the forum, you'll be happy to have joined us. So, NC, the land of the great lighthouses, I remember it well. Enjoy your new toy, take pics and post em, preferably with a huge lighthouse in the background. Now you have a safe place to stay when the on-shore winds start to blow. I know I will use mine in the event of the dreaded earthquake, here on the West Coast. It really makes a fine second home if ever needed.

Photos soon

Postby Sunflower40 » Sun Jun 29, 2008 11:37 pm

Hi Everybody! Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, it has been horribly hot here in NC lately. It was 99 yesterday and 97 today...ugh! I definitely plan to take some photos this week when I get everything back into the camper (I took out the carpet & the cushions to clean them and so that I could sweep, mop & clean the cabinets real well). I nearly melted, but at least the little Sunspot fits in our garage, so that helped a lot. We're definitely going to keep our eye out for some local rallies with you guys.

Photos are here!!!

Well, I took some photos last night and have posted them to my album. Please excuse the mess in the garage and around the outside of the camper. The DH decided to dive right into getting the camper ready for exterior paint. Now that the interior is clean, I don't plan to do much to it until after the summer except make new curtains and find some new cushions for the back of the seating area (since the fabric on the old ones is flaking horribly). Let me know if there was a view you wanted that I didn't capture or if you have a question about something you see. Happy looking!

Sunflower40, I know I said 'hello' over on Sunline Owner's forum--but T&TTT was how I found my Sunspot after a couple years of looking for just the right trailer.

Click on my album, and you'll see the pictures of mine, which has been partially updated. Since the living area was gutted and redone with cedar paneling and linoleum, I decided not to restore--just to go with an update, but accessorize from the 70s. And I'm working on the major stuff first--I sealed, I caulked, I created a cot couch/bed setup and a removeable galley, just finished the wheel work (new tires, bearing repack) and now it's time to start the electrical redo.

It's a lot of fun; enjoy!

We'll do. By the way, did you stop by Hawley's Camping Center the other day? My husband went this week, and the Hawley's guy said a lady with a teardrop had just come by the day before.

Also, did you know that Garner has the NC Symphony and fireworks on July 3rd every year at Lake Benson Park? If you'd like to go, let us know! The event's too big to try to find someone at the park, but we could meet at our house. It's nice to have fireworks the day before the 4th so you can go to another event the next day (like the Mudcats game or a friend's party).
