Hello all. My name is Mike Green. I live in San Marcos CA which is Northern San Diego County. I've been thinking about tear drops for the last couple of years. I have a 1977 Ford Bronco and use it to offroad.

I've been working on a design of my own for a while and came across this awesome site! You folks have a lot of great info on here, this is just what I've been looking for!

My design will surely take some adjustments based on some of the great comments and suggestions I've seen so far. :applause:

I have an RV, but with the price of gas and the fact that a teardrop could go so much further into the wilderness and really allow me to explore. This is definately the way I want to go.

Welcome Bronco Mike,

Welcome to the forum.

Glad you are able to tweak your design based on what you learned here.

We are looking forward to seeing your tweaks and your photos... :D

put some pictures of the bronco in your album. I have a 69 that I bought new. Need to restore it to pull our teardrop with, or maybe my 64 Fairlane that also is waiting restoration. Bob

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum. I can relate to your woes. I sold my motorhome, built a teardrop, camp in it when I can, enjoy the great gas milage and it's the best move I ever made. Come on up the i-15 for a visit, the coffee's always on. Lots of off-road info on this board for your exploring interests. Good luck.
Roly ;)

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Bob, I uploaded a picture for ya. I'll add more once I figure out which photos I need to size down so I can upload. I've done a lot of restortation on it over the last 4 years I've owned it. Seems like I've touched almost everything. But I luv it!

Roly, I know Wildomar! I used to work in Murrietta. Might have to take you up on that sometime!!

Mike: Thanks for the Bronco picture. Mine hasn't been driven in at least 20 years. a restoration project in waiting. You won't believe this, but it's absolutely true: in 1977 I had the local Ford dealer order me a body tub [welded assembly]. It came with doors, tailgate, and windshield frame, and the worst part of the story is that it is still sitting on the shipping skid in my barn, along with a couple parts Broncos, and about ten other cars, trucks, and tractors from 1943 to 1991. I got all I can do to keep some of them running. Bob

WOW BOB!

That's gotta be worth something. All those original body parts sitting untouched since 1977!!! I know what the import parts cost now and the fiberglass. You have a gold mine on that skid!!!

But I understand all too well how difficult it can be to get the work done.

I work in spurts and as soon as something gets fixed, something else breaks. :)

usually with me, it's fix one thing and two more break. I wasn't smart enough to get front fenders and a grille when I got the body in 77. I'll eventually get them from Dennis Carpenter, but it will cost more for them than I paid for the whole body. the joke here is, I'll die before I get it done, and Mary will sell it all and take a cruise to Hawaii. I just don't know how all this time went by, but at least retirement is getting close, then I can work on all my stuff.
