Another d@mn Texan

Postby profrog » Mon Jul 07, 2008 10:09 pm

Since I was promised that I could have a "toy" for building "The Evil One's" dream log cabin in the woods, I've been lurking here for a couple of years with the full intention of joining the ranks of TD and TTT builders a whole lot sooner but during the cabin construction I encountered health issues (if I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself), weather issues (we don't live in Hell, but we're close enough to feel the heat...I'm sure that MadJack can relate), money issues (so what else is new?), and time issues (ditto) that constantly conspired to keep me from attaining my goal. Her cabin is almost complete. It's time for my toy.

We used to love tent camping, but several years ago I started noticing that the ground was getting a little harder each year. Even with an air mattress, getting up and down was an issue. Well, the getting down part wasn't so bad because gravity helped out a lot with that, but that getting up part was a real beach sometimes. It's time for my toy.

Mike, I'm in awe of you. I'm sure that you have a real job, but I don't know how you have all the time to put into this web site. I'm guessing that your wife should be nominated for sainthood or something, too. Also, I can't begin to thank all of the moderators and regular contributors for fear that I will leave somebody out and offend them. I have learned so much and continue to build on that knowledge...Thank you. Thank you all.
It's never too weird for me.

profrog, welcome to the forum, it's about time you chimed in. You just gotta build that teardrop, the sooner the better. None of us know how much longer our candle is going to burn. If I knew they were so much fun, I would have built one 40 years ago. Check out the build info, decide on the size and set the alarm for early in the morning (when it is cooler) and buy the frame and get to building. We will be waiting for you to post pics, and the new Texas style tear you plan to build. Good luck
Roly

Image to the sawdust pit/playground Profrog. I will only say I couldn't build a cabin in the woods because I couldn't afford one. Had to look for another option. My TD lets me take my cabin with me. 8)

:pictures:  :designing: :hammer: :pictures: Image If you know what these mean then get to building. If not more study time is needed. 8)

Hey Profrog,

Welcome to the forum, FINALLY! I think you hold the record for the longest lurker!

Time for your toy... well lets get started. What are you building?

Regarding time, yea, it takes a lot of time. But I get a lot of help from my moderators and admins too! Glad we were able to teach you something! :D

Since you already know the routine, we await your details and photos.

Mike...

The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...
