It was more than 25 years before I had to replace my vinyl seats on my MGB -- and that stuff from the 70's wasn't have as good as the new stuff. I figure if it'll last me 10 years I'll be ready for a color change by then

fair enough, i didnt think of it in those terms before..

So, where are these elusive 40% off coupons?

I looked at the website for the store and they only list red and beige for the vinyl do they have more colors in the store?

the headliner is it sold as that? looks almost like wetsuit material.

You get on their mailing list and they mail them to you. It's good for a single item. We used one to buy a $170 OTT floor lamp for $102. Great deal. And they send out the coupons on a pretty regular basis. They also have coupons for lesser % in the Sunday paper.

Darn, here I am talking about coupons. My wife has brainwashed me! :?

Well, I was thinking of going vinyl but all the marine vinyl I can find is 54" in width. That isn't going to work for my 60" wide teardrop. They say it will stretch but I doubt it would stretch THAT much.

How wide is your tear Philip?

Comes in a variety of colours I know they had grey, blue, green, beige, brown and more --- those are the ones I can remember.

Mine is 50" wide -- but I'm pretty sure that you can get some that is 60" wide.

The coupons are also found in the newspaper flyers. This past weekend I went in the store and asked if they had any coupons/flyers -- sure enough the clerk gave me one for 40% off any one item and then another coupon for 10% off the total purchase.
Can't beat that.

just got back from the local store, they had black, white, cream, red, maroon, royal blue, deep blue, brown and grey. there were also alot of empty slots there as well so i am guessing the scope of colors goes beyond this..

I used one that they had at Joann -- I think it was the 3m brand -- and I put the foam side down - good side up.

Yes I have the 1/8" plywood beneath -- I've heard Gage say it's plenty strong enough -- and it is.

This picture shows the edge molding I'm going to use. I just cut off a foot or so to test fit. It'll have a red insert the same color as the roof.

Philip that red will look very nice. Our mouldings are about the same too.
Little bit narrower and we have the rubber sealer moulding and butyl tape included in the seal. Guarantee no leaks. ;)

Looking Great :applause: :applause:

I get the distinct impression that we may be seeing a fair amount of vinyl topped builds in the near future!!

A technical question (just so I can file it away in my brain for future consideration)...... When you glued down the headliner, did you trim it back from the edge the width of the moulding before overlaying the vinyl? That's what it looks like in the picture, but I wanted to make sure. Also, how did you finish the perpendicular edges (the front, rear, under the galley hinge)?
