Hey all. I'm considering building an offroad teardrop trailer. Not something for rock crawling in Moab, more like back road campsites that are farther away from civilization and gigantic motorhomes. We'd also use it as a basecamp for mountain biking trips.
I'd like it to be 10' long with the first 18"-24" for a gear rack and the rest for the camper. I'm not finding a 10'x4' or 10'x5' trailer anywhere that is off road worthy with larger clearance tires so I'm thinking I'll weld up my own frame and purchase the axle I need. I've never bought steel stock that large before so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good place to purchase 10' long 2x2 or 2x3 tubing in the Denver area.
As long as I'm posting I'll take any $.02 about trailer design and ruggedness too. Are there any sites that address building an off road trailer frame for a teardrop?
Thanks in advance.
