Napsack Edge Molding on

Postby Creamcracker » Sat Jul 19, 2008 7:12 am

It's 8.08am on Saturday morning and I have 1 coat of finish color on the sidewalls of NAPSACK. I was abe to put 2 coats of primer on in the week. After the primer I wasn't too happy with the way it looked but the top coat sure makes a difference. I have to wait until 10am to do a second coat. Psychologically finishing the painting is a big step! Give me patience! Please!

Can't wait to see the pics. One question though...would it have been easier to paint the sides BEFORE you put on the vinyl top??

Nope because I wanted to "dry fit" the edge trim before I painted and I couldn't do that without the vinyl top. It was not difficult since the vinyl is trimmed back from the edge approx 1/4 inch. Color doesn't show well in the pics --it's too bright out there...it's an off white.

And as promised here are the pics....

This will be my initial tow vehicle. As you can see i'ts a pretty good match for the vinyl....the painted sides are an exact match for the Mini Cooper color...Pepper White.

and now fedex has brought me a little something....pics in a bit.... :)

and the fedex man came......

Postby Creamcracker » Sat Jul 19, 2008 10:08 am

So the Fedex guy came....I'd been following the thread about the need to carry a spare then I saw that Harbor Freight had some new wheels on sale for their trailer .....just $50 each (I had a $10 off coupon) so I just bought new wheels and now have 2 spares!

Oh and the new wheels....ta da!

Just propped up in place...I'll change them out later when I need to fit the fenders...

Looking good!!!! You want to come to Mississippi and spray mine??

I'm not going vinyl, but am using the same color scheme... red roof, white sides.... so it's good to be able to visualize what mine might end up looking like.

You got to love those wheels. They were a "new" item when I bought my HF trailer. I almost bought them when I bought the trailer, but decided to wait a bit. I will definitely be getting a pair!! I only get one spare out of the swap though...one of my originals has all ready gone flat!!!

I was just thinking about overspray and such, but it sounds like you have a plan that is working. It is looking good! What did you use as a primer and top coat? My color scheme will be similar, only red for the sides and white for the top. Keep up the good work!

That is really looking great and I really like the wheels. I am anxious to see it behind the MINI. What color are the fenders going to be? You probably have said but I missed it. Won't be much longer now till camping time.

Fenders are going to be red the same as the roof color. The Mini Cooper continues the same color theme with the white exterior and red interior. One elderly lady -- on seeing it for the first time described it as "Pure with crime scene interior!" LOL

You don't need to exchange the wheels, just add the new ones and you can be the first teardrop with dualies!  Just need wider fenders.
