Trouble installing interior roof

Postby rtp123 » Wed Jul 23, 2008 1:29 pm

Hi all: I am having trouble installing the interior roof. It is 1/8 inch birch MDF plywood. Is there a trick to getting it to bend and stay in place long enough to attach it to the roof spars? :?

Thanks for any help on this one..

Do you have a real name that I can answer to??

Myself when at this point, made up a "T" using a couple of 2x4's
that I could jack up against the 1/8" panel at the apex of the radius, this forced the panel to follow the radius formed by the spars

It may help if you make up a temporary cleat from scrap wood to capture the panel where the Radius meets the floor

sounds confusing but if you angle the panel in place, into the angle formed by the the ceiling and the floor, then push the panel up against the ceiling spars I think you'll get the idea

It's really pretty simple, but can be awkword thats the reason for the "T" and the jack, for a jack I reversed one of the new trigger opperated bar clamps so that it would spread rather than clamp.

Cool! I didn't know you could do that with one of those clamps. Learn something new every day!

An extra set of hands is a good starting point.

A bunch of sticks that you can wedge inbetween the floor and the skin...

I glued my interior roof in 2 to 3 spars at a time. Use all the clamps and scrap wood ya got.
