Hilarious!
I have a friend who works at the help desk at a local college. He talks to really stupid people all day, who happen to have masters degrees. :?
I've heard some really good stories.
"Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." - Mark Twain
"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." - Albert Einstein

Been there done that (From the IT side)! 8)

Actually the guy I used to work for would take down the email server just to get even with folks who acted like that. And nobody else, but him and his direct assistant could get to that server!!

i was in special Mac support for years for the admin offices at MU (MO) kinda fun..... had to hand hold one on one. no such thing as downtime for them but they ragged about the charge which i'm sure was minimal.

anyway, in the early '90s there was a phone tech <=> consumer phone call written up. frankly we know it actually could happen. i would give anything to find a copy of that.

consumer was female of course, tech male. she calls because she can't get her pc to come back on. she's dutiful and follows directions. unplug and replug everything. try buttons again. etc etc

ends up she can't see, her lamp isn't working (yeah you know) goes to the refrigerator. yes. opens the door... the light won't come on.....

it became obvious the power was out.

the tech continues to give explicit step by step instructions - get the box it came in... told her how to pack it up....she wants to know how this is going to help.

totally frazzled the tech loses his control and screams at the woman.

NOW TAKE IT TO THE POST OFFICE AND SEND IT BACK, LADY. YOU ARE TOO STUPID TO OWN A COMPUTER!

that's not the story, just a sketch so if anyone has a copy of it they will recognize what i'm talking about.

and now they pay me to not work.... at least for a year or two until the gov't decides they will knock out SSDI to save money!

during my short stint as a unlucky ba$^ard, the one to call with computer problems, i walked a customer through the recovery disk process.

that in itself wasnt such a big deal but they called initially about a problem with excel.

yeah i got fired for that one.

Where do I begin? We used to keep a list of "special" trouble tickets that came in but it got too big and too tedious to maintain so we scratched it.

Heck just the other day I recieved this...

"Please delete user and add (insert name here)"

Ok so the customer wants me to delete someone... who? from what? Their user account? Their blackberry account? who knows? At least they gave me the new name, but what do I add that person to?

Ya we get that **** every single day.
