Almost finished (pics)

Postby GeorgeT » Wed Jun 01, 2005 11:21 pm

Almost finished except for curtains and mattress covers. 7 months and counting. Painted the exterior and interior with Glidden exterior high gloss oil base paint. Exterior got two coats primer and two coats finish. Used the sticky linoleum squares on the floor. Most have stuck down good, others need to be stepped on a little more. AC works great. Had it out all day in sun about 89 degrees. AC on low fan and thermostat at 6. Kept it nice and cool. Night lighting inside is great. As soon as we get the mattresses covered and the curtains and get the Sportz tent attached we'll test her out in the yard for a night and then finally CAMPING! :R

Wow George,

You did an awsome job. What attention to details. Heck, you even got a portapotty in there!

The painted finish looks good. I'd like to hear back from you in a year to let me know how the finish holds up to the weather and dirt.

Andrew would be proud of you. This should also go into Andrew's Hall of Fame! :D

REALLY! REALLY NICE!!! You got it all in there! GREAT JOB!

But go buy some flooring adhesive for those bad tiles. In every box, the manufacturers throw a few tiles in there with lousy self-stick.

They're a sick bunch of folks.

Andrew is impressed. But not proud - that's all George's work - the word Compact is pretty much all that I've contributed, and I stole that!

So all credit to George. It has reminded me that I must get round to drawing out this design as I think many people would like to copy it who might be scared off by a teardrop.

Wow! That is one sweet rig! Nice job.

I have a suggestion for those loose floor tiles. Try silicone caulk.

When I renovated our bathroom a couple of years ago, we installed one of those 3-sided plastic tub surrounds. We had an 11" gap between the top of the surround and the ceiling. We didn't want to use wallpaper in that location due the constant exposue to steam from the shower. So we covered that gap with a a single row of floor tiles that matched the surround. Unfortunatley, the steam lifted floor tiles. Finally, I stuck the tiles to the wall with silacone caulk. They haven't lifted since.
