New tow vehicle after I wax it up a little!

Postby elmo » Sun Jul 27, 2008 11:57 am

In case you didn't know I sold my 1970 Blazer a couple weeks at a car show and was casually looking for a new project....well I found one!!

It was in Craigslist for $500 and no pictures...called the guy and it was one of those too good to be true things. I was going to bring the Excursion and car hauler with me, but decided I would take the motorcycle instead just in case it was a pile of pooh and I wouldn't want to hurt the guy for wasting my gas and time...that way it would of just been a nice relaxing 300 mile round trip motorcycle ride. Well it turned out to be very good eventhough it is a little...oh who am I kidding...a lot over my skill level, but hell I built a teardrop I can redo a car!!

It is a 1946 Chevy Sedan Delivery...all original...ran 3 years ago when parked...comes with about 2 of everything. Only rust is on the floor panels and cost about $80 a piece to replace.

Fenders and other stuff in great condition and only one small dent on the hood.

I know it doesn't look like much, but in a couple years it will...hopefully!! :worship: The wife thinks I am really goofy now!!!

Elmo are you going to put a modern drive train in it or just stock. Does it still have the original 216 or has been updated to the more dependable 235 (common upgrade I am told)?

It will be kept as original as possible. It has the 216 and I will see what I can do with it to keep it in there.

The only change I plan on making is putting a seat in the back for the kids. Probally something like the back seat of a Jeep, so I can take it in and out easily

I wonder if it will work as TD tow vehicle? 216 seems a little small for that given the vintage. Apearance wise it would be fantastic though. Enjoy your project!

It already has a hitch on it....the guy I bought it from...bought it from a guy that had a car museum in Wisconsin Dells that went out of business 3 years ago and he bought it from a lumber yard/original owners.
