Becca and all who have given prayers and good thoughts,
Thought I would give you an update on Jon and Chase.
Due to the seriousness of his leg injuries, Chase was transferred to UW-Madison Hospital. He had a broken kneecap, femur, tibia and several crushed bones in his foot. In addition, he had several internal injuries - spleen, kidney, ribs, lung and two hairline cracked vertebrae. His eye will be fine - he won't lose his sight afterall. He underwent several surgeries and is doing very well.
Jon came out of his coma 3 days after the accident. Although he still has a bruised brain and swelling (and a HUGE headache), he appears to have no permanent damage. He has a lot of facial lacerations and came very close (less than 1/8") to losing an eye due to one cut. On Wednesday, we went to visit him and were there when they got him up to walk for the first time! It was amazing and there wasn't a dry eye in the place.
To everyone here, thank you for your support - it has meant so much. When I told Jon's mom that I had put the families' names on here, as well as our church's prayer roll, she said that over the past few days, she would often get a feeling of calm and strength and a sense that there were many, many people who were with them in thought and spirit.
Both boys still have a long recovery ahead of them but the outcome looks positive.
Miracles do happen...thank you again.
Betsey
