It's getting close to start considering the electrical setup for my tear. From what I can tell from searching this forum, the WFCO 8725 seems to be a good choice for use as converter/charger. Just two questions:

1) Anyone have any problems with this unit? Will it be enough for 4-5 DC lights, an air conditioner and about 3-4 DC outlets? I don't plan on multiple appliances running at the same time.

2) Is $90 a good price? There is one on eBay for that price that I'm considering (with an additional $10 for shipping).

I got mine from Best converter $113.50. But it also has a 2 year warranty. You probally won't get that on ebay.

That's the same exact unit I'm using Tim. Installed it more'n 2yrs ago & it 'ain't missed a lick' yet.

Yea and they are a LOT cheaper than the WFCO's too!

Is it that hard to figure out? I must say the diagrams i've seen are somewhat confusing... :thinking:

The diagrams in mine helped very little in hooking mine up. Luckily I was an Electrician in the Navy for 20 years and I also have a friend who is a Master Electrician here in Minnesota. Go ahead and get it. We will help you figure out how to hook it up.

The converter in question is good for an RV. Three stage and it senses battery voltage and RV load, goes from bulk charge to float as the battery becomes fully charged. This is much better for the battery than a constant output converter. It has an internal fan that works only if needed. It is designed to mount in a panel opening about 6" X 9", but I built a small frame for it to sit upright. The earliest photo in my album shows it in the wooden frame.

The directions with the converter were detailed but a bit hard to follow. As if the author was working with a second language. I called Best Converter and the people there were very helpful. Then the wiring was easy.

No, I don't think it's that hard... I just didn't like it cuz I'm simple. I think you'd be able to figure it out.

I like simple too. My area of expertise does not include electrical...
