hello i'm joe long story short last camp trip there was a river flowing under the tent. after that, i started looking for camping trailers and saw the first teardrops and that's all it took. ttt bug bit me. surffing, i found this forum and it's friendly people. the info in here is tremdous for begginers. so for starters i have a 5 x 10 flatbed trailer that hopefully be turned into a tt. a bit bout me serve 29 yrs usaf, retired, just got to put up with the local high comand if she approves i can build it in the patio. it is still hot here and that's pretty much the only shade i got. would like to ask permission to come onboard. thank you.

Don't be afraid to ask questions some one here will answer ya. The only major requirement we have is take pictures of your build so Aunti M and Mad jack can be happy.

If you haven't had a chance to look yet you might want to check out the
Generic Benroy above. The Hall of Fame pictures above also will give you a bunch of ideas as well as motivation. Most builders have pictures in their personal albums and some have there own websites showing many details of their builds.

Hello Localboy (joe)

I live in the San Bernardino area of so. Cal not quite as warm as you but close. I had to build mine in my driveway, so started my TD Thanksgiving
weekend got far enough during the fall that by the time we had rain in the winter I was under an EZ-Up was weathertight by summer, so now the EZ-Up provided shade the real pain came in when I had to clean-up everynight so I wouldn't get complaints from the neighbors.

Patios are great places to build. I'm building in the garage, but plan to build a "'drop port" for her when she is done.

I'm in Avondale (Eastern California to the locals). If you want to see what I have managed to do so far, PM me and we can set it up. I plan to do some work on her this weekend, but the forecast for Saturday is 113º, and I have found that I tend to hurt myself when trying to work over about 110º, so we'll see.

I am in Tucson and in about the same place as you. We are just buying a house and I will be building a shade shed in the backyard to build in. I plan on waiting until the winter months to start since I use a lot of epoxy and it is too hot to work with now.

I had the same tent experience years ago, and decided that a teardrop (or a TT) is the way to go! You're off the ground with solid walls, a roof, and a real mattress! It's great! I hope you enjoy your build, and some good camping!
