Total Solar Eclipse, Tomorrow

Postby alffink » Thu Jul 31, 2008 10:56 am

For those that may be interested. tomorrow Friday, Aug 1
There will be a total solar eclipse, sorry not visible any where in the US.
the best locations for viewing are in Mongolia. I actually have three friends that are there now, so I do expect to see some good photo's of their view of the event.

But for the majority of us a trip to Mongolia is a bit out of the question, so how to see the event as it happens??

At 6:00AM EDT, Fri, Aug 1

go to http://www.nasa.gov/ntv (NASA Television), will broadcast the eclipse live

I am not sure of the time of first contact and it's relation to the start of the broadcast, but from first contact to the moment of totality it will take about 1 hour, approx. 2 min of totality and another hour until final contact.

Hope you will enjoy the show.

I wonder if Mongolia has any good campgrounds for Teardrops. The first Mongolian gathering?

Route 66 there, is probably a camel trail across the Gobi desert.
