Hi, I'm about half way done my first teardrop with the help of a friend who built one last year.

A bit of info:
5'W x 8'L x 4'H; floor is 1/4" ply with 1.5" rigid foam and 1/8" mahogany door skin; walls are 1/8" mahogany on each side of 1.5" rigid foam and 2x2 frame then another layer of door skin on the interior and 1/8" fibreglass sheet on the ext.; front and hatch will be aluminum checkerplate rather than fibreglass.

Sleeps 2.5- fold out bunk (5'L x 2'W) for our almost 3 yr old.

Doors sourced from Little Guy.

15" wheels, full moon chrome covers, checkerplate fenders, spring axle, no brakes, frame is 1.5" steel square tube, 2" for the reach.

All LED lighting, 50w solar panel, deep cycle battery underneath behind the axle, 10" sink, 1.8A pump, 5 gallon tank underneath ahead of the axle, cd/mp3 player with interior & exterior speakers switchable.

Just curious, as most time spent in a teardrop is sleeping, why the foldout? It could have been fixed and saved a little trouble. Not criticizing, just curious. :thinking:

If the munchkin isn't with us the folded bunk opens up the cab area more and down the road the bunk can be detached and storage cabinets retrofitted in if desired. If the bunk was rigid, it would involve cutting to remove it and make a mess. I am very impressed with the strength of rigid foam/glue/mahogany door skins. Who woulda thunk?

Got the aluminum roof and checkerplate front on now. See my photo link in the first post!
Next the rear hatch (also checkerplate) and then the lighting and a bit of plumbing and we're off to California on Sept 6!

Thanks! The inside is about the same. Just needs one more coat of varathane but I am going to wait until after our first trip to keep the smell out for now. Once my lighting is in, I'll take more interior pics!
