Windows, From whom?

Postby Hoosier Greg » Mon Aug 04, 2008 1:13 pm

Hi Guys .

I been little busy working on the build. The trailer has been modified ,sanded and painted.
The profile's been cut out and the framing is just about done ...Yea, I know, you wanna see pictures  Soon, after I get the skin on the frames I'll take few pictures and with the help from someone here I might be able to post few for you...

Meanwhile I need two windows for my 25-w x33 1/2 -h doors.. Any sources I can order from and what size will be aesthetically pleasing for that size doors....

Thanking you in advance.
Greg.

Greg if you go up to sdtripper2's index and riches list in the menu you will find lots of resources.

I got mine form a salvage yard and the big one from Colaws RV salvage.

Greg...

I just cut my windows in over the weekend and my door is almost exactly the same size as yours (24x34). I used the crank-out 12x18's from Grant. Take a peek in my album to see if you like the way they fit. With the extra inch and a half height you might consider the 15x18's (if you want crank outs, but sliders that size should work too).

Tinksdad.

I like the window just fine. I'm just wondering if that size will fit since my doors are modeled after Kurt's From Indiana ... We are expecting rain this evening. Otherwise I would uncover them to measure .I'll do that in the morning if not raining.
Thanks .
By the way I like your build. When do you expect to have it finished.....

Thanks Len.
I think I now have several window options to work with....

I been thinking (danger lurking) :) ..As I mentioned I am in the exterior home improvement business and on regular bases we replace storm doors. Some of them are in pretty good shape. I am wondering if I can use /or if anyone has used the hinge from a storm door and the trim that attaches to the door opening on the house..
I have one in my garage now that looks like it might be made to work.
Opinions ?....

Greg Mine are the mini demo surface mounted storm windows. They were from a display in a lumberyard auction sale. It was a hexagon revolving display showing 6 styles in 6 colors. No one wanted to bid so I got the display for $5.00. I mounted the 2 double hung from the inside then siliconed and wood trimmed. Not to bad for 1.20 a window. Just ask the lumberyards they have these displays tucked back in some dusty corner and you can pick them up cheap.

Greg Jim Linder here in Indianapolis sells windows he builds teardrops professional. He'll be at the Madison gathering next weekend, 10 days :dancing

I've also found another dealer local they sell truck shells and they're the 18"x18" crank outs they use in the shells.
I'll have to look up the name and number if you'd like.

NOT MINE

If you're after a vintage look, these are 18"w x 15" h

I have not seen these in person, but they are on eBay @ http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TEARDROP-SERRO-SCOTTY-RV-TRAILER-WINDOW-18-x-15_W0QQitemZ260267237002QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p4506.m20.l1116

Grant's windows, of course, are top-notch; this is merely an alternative.

I love that style, it's hard to find though. But I'm not ready to give $70 each
