Goodness.... I take a little time off to teardrop... and this thread goes crazy!!!! I had to go back 6 pages to get caught up....

First, Julie, the Jewel Box looks fantastic!!!! Can't wait to camp with you again! Second, Thank you everyone for the good wishes on our adventure. It was fantastic! Third, Sam.... great pictures and such a great visit!!!! Our time together in Cody, Butte, and Yellowstone was so much fun with you! I'm proud to travel with the Turtle any time!

We got home yesterday and I have not even unloaded everything yet! I'll download pictures as soon as I can... Our time in Oregon with Bruce was cool. It is beautiful there, We actually overnighted at Triker Jerry's on the way to Fortuna, Jerry and Donna were wonderful and their place was amazing! Then to Fortuna, CA and stayed at Eunice and Ken's, saw Ferndale and went to the beach.... It was COLD!!!! I was surprised at how chilly northern CA was! We camped 1/2 block from the ocean at Lee's gathering at Mendocino, it was beautiful also and COLD!!!! then headed to the IRG. I was in a caravan of 13 teardrops in a row on highway 1!!!!!! it was everything you dream of seeing all the tears in a row!!!! We drove through the Redwood tree and shared it with 20 plus teardrops! What a hoot! And then the IRG.... It was so great to see so many people I had met the year before at the Dam gathering and meet so many new people that we see on the board!!!! (Doug's new American Tear was exquisite!!!!) Aunti M, I rooted for your teardrop in the race!!!!

I followed Shelly back across the country to Minot! it was HOT! but love her house and the town is really nice! It hailed on us Saturday morning before we left! Weird weather!!!! We cut the last visit to NE out and headed home. Brandie had had enough and was realy homesick! I think she also had a case of overload! We saw so much!

So, Ladies, pictures to follow.... I loved the updates on everyone's tears, love sharing your adventures and am really proud to be one of your family!!!!

I know and have looked lately, that I am not of the female race, but would like to welcome Pam and Brandie any time here in Oregon. I had some serious car problems :x while they were here and was unable to take them where I had planed :( , but it is always an honor to have them back here again. :D
Now, Joanne, You and Kelley are two of a kind. :Flippin Burger: (supposed to be dutch ovens.) Is there anything that you are not able to make in Dutch Ovens??? Your demonstrations were awsum  and I wish I had the time to try something, but as a man (ME ONLY) I am just too lazy :relaxing: and also have other things to fix and finish. :hammer:
Just wanted to let Pan and Brandie that they are welcome here anytime. :applause:

hi julie,
i didn't know you had all that hassle with the paint. no wonder you considered yourself *stressed*.

when i was looking at the Jewelbox again the vent on top seemed to be crying to have a little crown around! i'm probably the only one who would get that carried away. if it had some kind of clear glass chips afixed (meaning intensely "glued) in mosaic pattern it would really sparkle! :D

well, i wanted to put fins on the Guppy, and paint eyes and a smile on the front. even though i bought the Guppy and for once claim sole ownership in spirit, Robert still helped me slow down. :pipe:

really can't wait to see her in oct. at LCGIII. it's going to be so much fun see all the personalized tears. only other ones i've seen in person were at Dana's (missouriteardrops.com) when we got the Guppy.

hope next year robert might dare to try a caravan. can't blame him for wanting to stop and deal with his back whenever necessary. we'll see.

see ya

Decorating

Postby cccamper » Sat Aug 09, 2008 4:37 am

it's ok if no one reads. i just need to think with direction.

ok, so tears are camping...but...not only! they are so wonderful to look at, from the basic to the loaded. each has it's function and fulfilles it.

yeah yeah, ok i said that now.

obviously i'm not the only one having or had a great time dressing up their tear. i've got the material here ready to make quilt and wall quilt. it's kind of "cheater" stuff to me. the entire central part of the quilt is actually boarder fabric created to be cut in strips. but it looks really good iwth lots of variety to go ahead and use it this way. i wanted to make a regular pieced quilt but when i realized "camping" + "quilt" = disaster with my DH i gave in. he just doesn't CARE about dirty or or... he'd have made a great caveman. yeah, an intellectual caveman. he's unique.

now there are two other ideas in my head about how i'd have fun decorating Guppy. the most suitable of all seems to be the beach theme given the design if the Guppy with the alum. spoke wheels, etc. that's the farthest from "me". i wish it was all T&G pine.....

i am just curious, does anyone else dream of having "clothing changes" for their little tear? for me it just means having something to do with a purpose. it's just a bed quilt, wall quilt, and curtains. and a few fun things for the galley, of course. :D

Oh Girl you've got it bad. If and when I make my Teardrop I expect it to go through several changes in themes. Because Teardrops are never really done.

YES! Seth is grown up so I can dress the Guppy. Was so fun getting little outfits when he was tiny.

Nothing that you can decorate is ever done. And I love to make things. That's what I've done my whole life. I've always sold things.

It was exciting to me the two years we lived in Phoenix. ( "we" being my son and his father, that's nicer than saying ex... on the other hand Robert is his "father" ) There was a wonderful store, huge, with everything from lumber to a court with real food... upscale on Camelback road. They sold my wooden folk art wall pieces.

Now I don't do anything other than for myself. So may as well make things that are useful. When I first got my new Babylock Ellageo digital sewing machine I was so excited to have a bigger embroidery field ( approx 6"x10" as opposed to 5"x7" with my Esante') that I sewed endlessly. Complex 'pictures" from emblibrary.com. Like this owl Robert picked out... This is from the web site... mine looks the same.. can't change how the machine sews when a design is plugged in!)
Image

Well, I literally have a stack of designs that is 2' tall!!!! No plans for them, just made them for the effort. It's a great hobby for someone like me. The machine does all the "motor skill" stuff.

Anyway, for me to make a couple sets of Guppy stuff would be more useful than stacks of designs.

YOU SEE! I am the Queen of Justification! Have now made it sound like a *good* idea to sew for the Guppy.

My work here is done.

This is probably more like "babbling" but I don't have anyone to talk to about these things who might understand and yesterday I finally saw this thread... had forgotten about it.

I'll be quiet for a while so I don't wear out my welcome!

It filled up my 160mmx260mm hoop. 25mm = inch

Well, if I remember, and can find it - which I should be able to, I can stick the owl in when we go to LCGIII. I think we are pretty close? We're at #19. we can tack it up on a tree. He would make a nice Halloween dec! 8)

Have to get my scanner to work with Vista. When that happens I can start scanning again. Keep thinking of things I want to upload but... they are Hard Copy.

I'll send myself a PM. Then I'll remember.

Takes me about a week to make that. won't bore you with the details! Still need to do one last stitchout and get the stabilizer better on the back. It's nonwoven fabric under the fabric you see, gives it the substance to the 149,000 stitches.

Wow! Just looked at emblibrary.com It is 10"x11". No wonder I had cut it down and it was so much work. (none of the sewing software works on my MacBook. right now my HP laptop won't open the embroidery software. ARRGGGHHHHH to VISTA. :(

http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/Color_Simple.aspx?CS_ProductID=O1000&CS_Catalog=Emblibrary

If you want to see a beautiful HI RES image click on that URL above. It's for the stitchout to help pick the colors. Too big to post here.

I wish! I don't have digitizing software so I can't design anything original. Can alter designs. And have Alphabets that plug right into Embird, the embroidery software. It's great. Although at the moment it quit working with VISTA and I have to redo the whole thing.

. I keep looking for a teardrop design somewhere. I saw an old TTT once but it was $25 and I hate to pay that much when I still have to do all the work!

Still have the Babylock Esante' I got first. Never seem to get it together to get rid of things! It's nice to use one for more normal sewing so the other stays precise. It's nice to have the needle hit *exactly* where it is supposed to go.

E Just go over to the manufacture website and check if they have an update or a new driver for your scanner and sewing machine.
I had to do that for my scanner when I got a new computer.
If all else fails you can always go to Cnet and see if they have anything.
