Newbie from Pa

Postby BillandMarijo » Mon Aug 11, 2008 7:01 am

Hello
Bill and I are Newbies from Altoona Pa. Joined in March but havent been on the forum till a few days ago. Did join the TearJerkers Liberty Bell Chapter and have found my way around that for a few months. Lots of nice helpful people. We built our 5x10 and shes getting ready to be painted. Took us since last summer although "The Sponge" (thats her name for obvious reasons) sat in the garage over the winter untouched and this summer was spent building 2 seperate Treehouses for our 2 grandsons. So now all our attention is on "The Sponge". I look forward to our first gathering Fall Foliage in New Jersey in October. So she has to be completed by then. I have a few Pics on my TearJerkers profile. We didnt use plans just our imaginations and looking at some real beauties before we got started.
We love Teardrops.

Welcome, Petermans! I'm not too far away from you in Centre Hall, in Centre County. My wife and I will be going past you with our teardrop on I-99 next week! That's a beautiful trailer you have there. I hope to see "The Sponge" soon, too!

Welcome! I understand about Grandkids, for sure. Just about the best thing there is! Even better than Teardrops!

Just like Grandkids, Teardrops grow with lots of love, and lots of PICTURES! :)

The Sponge

Postby BillandMarijo » Wed Aug 13, 2008 5:39 am

Mike
Yep you got it. Money pit, Marijo got me into building this Teardrop by telling me I could build one for $600. Well the plans she found on e-bay had no frame under it and the axel was attached to the wood. Wouldnt have lasted too long. I threw the plans away and did my own. Ha we are almost at $3000 and shes not painted yet, Ill be doing it myself with Marijos help. I liked the Teardrop Idea so I was into it but it was Marijos dream to have one. Since she saw it on the Travel channel years ago.Now Im sucked in and its mine too. Got to admit I am really enjoying it. So yea the "Sponge" is a money pit but I dont mind at all.

cost

Postby Carter » Wed Aug 13, 2008 6:43 pm

Bill and Marijo. My goal is $2000 and 1000 lbs. loaded. Of course I don't think I will make it and that doesn't count the $1500 I spent on "tools". Last time I shopped the surplus places around Elkart, IN to save some $. My windows were $10 each, the door $40, etc, etc, etc. Look at Mikes signature, he is right, the money will be forgotten long before the quality.

Thanks for all your comments in the other thread,
Jim
I need a new Avatar. I'd put my dog up there but she doesn't look much like me. She's the skinny one.
