After lurking for a few years, a divorce, a major job change, and tons of volunteer work, I am working on my own version of tiny/tear.

My base - well 4 years ago I bought a small 1996 pop-up tent camper. It was great for the time. Many many trips. Last week, we packed to go camping. I wast done packing and realized I need to add some items under the benches in the trailer. As I was lifting the roof, the side wall of the roof shell crumbled into thousands of damp, roten particles. Wow! My only thought was: "glad it didn't happen after we drove 200 miles and got to the camp site. We simply transfered the gear and took two cars and my tent.

I will post pics tomorrow. I got started on August 9. Took the entire camper to the frame and floor deck on the first day. Saved all the coshins and bed foam, just it case. Also kept the a/c-heater unit and refridgerator.

My frame dimensions are 87" long and 81" wide. The 81" wide is over the fenders. I am thinking of a queen bed cross ways instead of longways. Any comments or ideas on that?

Building with the bed sideways is exactly what I am doing with my Pop up redo. I say go for it and like I have to do, post pictures!

Not enough information for me to follow completely, but I'm sure you will impress us with your design! Sideways verses longways is a matter of taste and design. You towed the pop-up, so you know how it will tow, and I assume you have the same tow vehicle. Looking at the sketch in your album, I see 4 shelves that could be beds? I'm assuming the forward lower shelf is intended to be the bed. Width-wise, the location of the door will depend heavily on the placement of the mattress. A queen mattress is 60" wide. You could have the door open in the area of the mattress, but the drawing doesn't reflect that.



Also, in playing with a layout similar to that which you describe, it appears that there is no way to get a 60" wide mattress without overlapping the wheelwells. If you are willing to raise the mattress platform above the wheels. The door would have to be raised at least effectively. How tall are you planning to build?

I have a 7 x7 pop-up that I'm trying to sell. I'm going to watch your build and maybe, just maybe I'll keep it and try to do a build out my self. See the first two pictures in my album.

Talking from experience, try to keep the finished trailer weight close to what the popup was. Unless it is very old, the popup frame will be thin gauge metal and although the main frame will hold up with a "truss" box on top, the tounge will not. That's $500 worth of experience to fix it before a major problem.

to the biggest playground around. I built mine on an old pop up and love it. Made the double bed across the 76" wide and it is fine for us. Mike is 6'1" but rarely sleeps straight out.

Part of me wishes I had put the bed over the wheels and walled in the potty. One of the things I did without thinking is put the vent too close to the bed and that gets in the way of the sliding wall I wanted, again to block off the potty. Here is a picture or the bed which will some day be a table platform.
