Hard wiring CTEK Charger

Postby Toytaco2 » Fri Aug 15, 2008 2:11 pm

I'll be finishing up the 12 volt wiring in my build this weekend. I'm using this item http://bluesea.com/products/5025 from Blue Sea to run all my circuits. The Blue Sea fuse block will be in the raceway (Generic Benroy plans) at the rear of the cabin with the battery on the trailer tongue. I have a CTEK 7000 multi stage "smart charger". This charger is pretty cool in that it has a "supply mode" setting which is for the purpose of powering 12 volt equipment with or without a battery in the system (up to 7.5 amps). It includes cables with eyelets for hard wiring it into the system.

Now for my stupid question, I want to have the charger mounted in the galley area. So... can the leads from the charger be simply attached to the Blue Sea fuse box's (in the raceway) positive and negative terminals along with the leads from the battery (on the tongue) OR should the charger be connected directly to the battery?

Thanks,
Mike

Thats how I wired my CTEK.

You'll note that the charging light comes on when a 12vdc fixture is powered up even is the battery is fully charged -- at least mine does and the manual indicates that is appropriate.

If it's not broken, you're not trying hard enough.
