Hi all

Looking at building a Teardrop, something simple at first,

Saw this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=005

Pros Cons for my first try or is there a better/simpler design for my first try?

Welcome.

Paxton,
From one Newbie to another Welcome. We also have a Homebuilt. We bought the E-Bay plans but threw them away and did our own design. Just make sure you build on a trailer. Harbor Freight sells them and they are pretty reasonable. I built mine from scratch. If you are building go with a 5' width if you have a significant other believe me youll be glad you did in the long run.
This is a great forum and you will get lots of help. People really are friendly and all you gotta do is ask for help.
Good luck to you on your build.

Welcome,

Have you looked at the free plans listed in the top of the forum page? You should, they are very good plans, and the creator is on the forum and there will be lots of help by people who have built it

Have fun, it sounds like you are hooked

Welcome! I used the FREE Generic Benroy Plans at the top of the page for my one and only build. Take a look. Besides, the resident expert on these plans lives in MI.

I would go with the free plans. If you have any doubt there is a hall of fame thread around here somewhere to give you an idea of what you can do with it. 8)

Welcome to the forum, and take the advice of those who posted above. The plans you had your eye on has no galley or galley lid, has a soft material roof and the door is much too small. You can design your own tear, and you will be happier with the result. Just my 2 cents.

I guess you guys weren't joking when they said how nice everyone is on here.

Well, I went through all the plans on here and I think the Generic Benroy looks the best for me, like all of you suggested. I am just scared to build the galley door but I will cross that bridge when I get there. I'm thinking 5 foot wide and a recess for a table.

I guess the first steps are to get a hitch for the Honda and keep on eye on harbor fright for a sale.

Thanks for making me feel welcomed

if you are going 5' wide with a recess for a table, look over the Lil Diner plans...

Welcome Paxton

Welcome from another Michigander that is new to the group. Depending on where you live in Michigan you might try Tractor Supply for a base trailer. There are posts here that say they have many options, you just have to get the right sales person.

Dinettes are a personal preference. I have one in the first trailer I have never sat at in 4 years. We put a picnic table under the awning and only go inside to sleep, shower or change. Most of the time we never raise it from the bed position. Mostly useless for me....but it looks cool!!!

I need a new Avatar. I'd put my dog up there but she doesn't look much like me. She's the skinny one.
