4x8 or 5x8 trailer. plus what about fiberglass

This is my first post so bare with me guys. I want to build a simple yes thats right a simple or perhaps im just simple. I plain to build this thing in the spring I feel with cold weather already here and the garage full at the moment I should show patience and over come the urge to jump right in and make sure I know what im exactly in for anyway I know if I go with a 4x8 trailer I wont have to worry about seams in the plywood. So what happens if I use a 5x8 trailer I asume I will have seems in the wood. And I hear you use fiberglass for both trailer sizes to cover the plywood. I know I can build the thing Ive been around wood working for a long time as my father use to make custom furniture and Ive inherrited all his tools. So LOL hopefully I have not confused you guys to much and you can give some advice. Thanks Aaron

To the playground Aaron. Now being around woodworking and doing it are two different things. I suggest you give in---clean out the garage while you can---sell most of the non-tool junk and make some serious sawdust.

It is the only way to save yourself. It is perfect building weather here. Where are you?

Oh yeah! You will have a seam across the top. You can run it horizontal or vertical. Your choice.

Im in Ohio and I dont believe I can finish it in time for winter. As for the garage there is a 1974 vw beetle in there along with three motorcycles so I may cut most of the materials at the furniture shop and transport them to the house and build outside outside

welcome to the forum Aaron. Acouple things to consider about the size tear you want is weight and will you be sharing the space. I went 4' wide, and since have gotten married and considering building a 5'
You will need to use some filler on both and the 5' will take more materal thus costing more but get what fills your needs and enjoy the the heck out of it. randy

Hi Aaron!

The finish you choose will depend on your budget and how long do you expect your trailer to last. The seams will need to be fiberglassed and epoxied. The most popular products seem to be CPES and RAKA.

Other than that, people have used anything from house primer/paint to high-performance automotive finishes and everything in between.

thanks for the reply now I know what to use I guess I better learn how to use it and what order I aply the stuff. And maybe figure out how much to order
