Question on Sealing Tail Lights

Postby Dean_A » Fri Aug 29, 2008 1:12 pm

OK, I'm about to the point of installing my surface-mount tail lights on the hatch and I have a quick question. Would it be best to seal these tail lights all the way around the exterior of the bezel, or just around the wire hole and the screws?

My gut says that just sealing up the wire hole and putting sealant on the screw threads should be enough, but I want to run it by you all first.

...mark and predrill mounting holes...fill with sealant...put a LARGE glob(tech term) of sealant on/around/in/over/under/thru wires where they come out of light and more around wire entry hole on hatch and screw holes on light...put in place and fasten...in others words...YES...you are on the right track

I'd use a caulk/sealant, not an adhesive caulk... easier to take off if you need to.
