My new Grill/DO table

I recently attended the Pike River Rendezvous here in Kenosha and talked to the blacksmith there. We worked out a trade for an old forge I had. He made me this setup for grilling or DO cooking. This is the grill and steel post.

Then I had him make a removable steel plate and folding windscreen that sits right on top of the grill. I can also swing the crane over the coals and heat dishwater in a coffee boiler at the same time. It's height adjustable and can swivel if the wind shifts. Since I'm a solo camper, this size suits me fine. In an emergency I can stack 2 DO's

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Nice grill / table!! The guy's pretty talented. I've always liked wrought iron, so I really like how your table turned out. The problem here in the desert southwest would be trying to get it pounded into the ground far enough to hold steady. Between the rocks and caliche, I'd never get it secure.

You would also have to decide which CI to leave at home to make up the difference for the sledge hammer you need to put it in the ground!!

Actually in our sandy soil up here, the post went into the ground with just a few whacks with my axe. But I can imagine in other parts of the country it might present a problem, in which case I'd simply set the table on the ground and still be able to use the windscreen.

That is one cool set-up... I like the swivel feature for blocking the wind.

I've almost perfected boiling water with it. Maybe by this weekend I'll be able to whip something up!
