Newbee in MD

Hey everybody, I just found this site and I think its awesome! My wife and I love to camp and take road trips and are looking for a step up from tents. I'm a member of Jeep Forum and I'm thinking about building a small offroad teardrop to tow behind my Grand Cherokee. I've got a small utility trailer from Tractor Supply and have already flipped the axle under the springs, put 30" wheels and tires on it with new fenders. The thing tows like a dream. Any advice, info or moral support will be greatly appreciated!!

Talk to ya soon!!

Hi Jolly and Rigsby,

Welcome to the forum both of you.

Yes, it's quiet right now, between folks camping this labor day weekend, and getting out of harms way, etc... well you get the idea. It should pick up again in a day or two.

And Jolly, there are some builds here designed to be pulled behind Jeeps. Do a search, you'll see what I mean!

Mike...
The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

Welcome to the forum!

You will find a bunch of threads dealing with off road teardrops and many that share a love of jeeps on the forum. The Hall of Fame above as well as Generic Benroy Plans and personal albums of many forum members should give a wealth of ideas and motivation for building a quality tear. Don't forget to take a bunch of pictures along the way to document your build and as an aide to getting any question answered more precisely. The folks on this forum are really talented and very helpful. Hope you are able to get started soon and enjoy your build.

Rigsby and Jolly,
Welcome to the forum both of you . Its great any questions you have will be answered by someone. And the folks here are really friendly. Im a newbie also. Just finishing up my homebuilt and hopefully getting ready to make a gathering.
Jolly I see you are located in Maryland. Did you also join the Tearjerkers? Its a group thats gets together and camps. Sounds like alot of fun. The wife and I are trying to make the October 10-11-12 Liberty Bell Gathering in Parvin State Park in New Jersey. If you cant camp just go for the day and check out some Teardrops Im sure there will be some real beauties there.
Good Luck to you all,
:applause: Bill and Marijo
Hope to see you on the road.

Image to the playground Jolly. Great to hear you will be making an off road.

The only immediate advice I have is to beef up the tongue on the trailer. Seems some have had issues with it sagging. (If it is the right trailer)

Good luck and yes the pictures keep the bubble oil level. 8)
