Checking in from the Cross Roads of America!!

Hello everyone,
My name is Marc and I live in Noblesville, IN (approx 15-20 miles north of Indy). I found this site a couple of weeks ago when I was searching for a TD to purchase. After looking here, there, and everywhere I decided to go ahead and make my own, the way I want to make it. I decided to join yesterday when I found a trailer at work, it is 7x12 and was curious if it would be too big to make a TD. After posting and reading was others posted I decided to make my TD 7x10 and use the extra 2' and make a nice tonge box. So right now I am researching what kind of design I would like to make and see what kind of options I have during the design process. So if anyone out there has any thoughts, ideas, questions, comments, or concerns I would love to hear them!! Oh yea, links to other websites are also handy as well; I mean I will have to order some parts for this thing.

Welcome, Marc! Sounds like you have a good platform to start with! What are you going to tow it with?

Oh, don't forget, we like lots of pictures! :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:

It will be towed with a F-150. (I don't think my 2008 civic hybrid would do the trick) :worship:

Wow, thoughts, ideas, questions, comments or concerns. Let's see where do we start. First, build your tear exactly the way that is invisioned in your mind. Any ideas you have will make it an individualized project, and I say go with it. Next, Wow, why do you want to build so big? My comments are as follows:

Building 4 x 8 makes it quicker, lighter, cheaper, and easier to store in confined spaces, however, longer and wider adds more weight, makes for a larger bed and has loads of storage. Lastly, concerns are all a matter of choice, build what you want, design it to suit your needs and be ready to beat off the on-lookers with a stick when they ask you while gassing up, if they can open the door and look inside. Bask in the glow, you are one of a special kind. Good luck on your build. Oh yes, remember, you can't build just one, and take pics and post "em.

Roly,
I decided to go bigger because after looking at the 4x8 and 5x8 models at a local sporting good store (Gander Mountain). My fiance and I like to travel and with a bigger unit it gives us more options on where we can go and how long we want to stay. She likes to go to NASCAR races and right now the only ones that we can go to are the ones "close" to home, I HATE spending money and staying at a overpriced stinky hotel room. This way we are able to travel more and see new places. Oh and by the way I will warn you next time I'm out in SoCal, I might want to check out the TD scene out there. I spend about 3 weeks out there a year and last trip this year will probably be in November. (Colts vs. Chargers game)
