New from Idaho

Hi all,

Been lurking for a while, like what I see. Anyway, I have been thinking on doing a small trailer for myself (have a 27ft w/slide when the whole family goes out) for a while now.

Yesterday, I picked up an old 1976 Coleman pop-up shell. Previous owner had stripped it down, and was going to use it as a utility trailer. Mechanism still works, top and bottom in good shape, has excellent rubber on the road, and a perfect spare, and all the jack stands are in place and work.

I had an idea of a TTT that I was thinking about, but need to look over this frame a little more, and design based on it's strengths.

Anyway, thought I would introduce myself, and how I came by this place.

Hi Carl, welcome to the forum. Looks like you already have a good start on a teardrop or a tiny travel trailer. Design it to your own liking, take pics and post em and we'll shower you with encouragement, (or try to change your mind) depending on what you are considering. (>:

My first suggestion would be to change the 8 inch wheels to 12 inchers, if that is the case. Bearings and tires will last longer and the cost is well worth it. Good luck on your build, ask questions and you'll get answers.

Thanks guys, will try and get pictures and get a thread started as I wrap my mind around this.

That was one of the good things about this trailer, it had 12" fat tires on the trailer already. I think the guy did it when he was thinking of turning it into an enclosed motorcycle trailer!

I plan on taking some pics this weekend to start drawing some ideas I have. I think I am on the way to a good idea. I will then clear a spot in the shop, and wheel it in and leave it there to work over the winter!

Image to the playground Carl. I built on an old pop up/fold out tent thingggy. 8) We like it but would do some things different if I could do it over. They do cost more to build bigger and take up more room  but not much more.

Make a plan and remember to share. Gotta keep that bubble oil level. :pictures: :pictures: :pictures:
