I think where I got confused the most was that when you view the pic of the BT, you see quite a few connections on the picture...are these just "options" and all are not necessary? I see the little wires that look like they can go to the fuse, but i also see clamps like you would see on a normal battery charger.

When connected the battery and the battery tender are parallel power sources, but the battery will support much more load than the battery tender will. You could run off of the battery tender alone as long as you stay below its amperage rating, but it's main purpose is to keep the battery charged. If you want to eliminate the using the battery when on shore power you would be better off finding a good DC power supply of sufficient rating to run whatever it is you plan to run off of DC.

Yep, you got it Mandy. The DC output of the charger terminates into a two pin connector, you choose either the alligator clip leads or the ring lug leads and plug them into that connector. If I recall correctly I ended up cutting the output leads shy of the connector and added my own ring lugs for termination.

There's nothing wrong with a beer after dark! It was dark earlier this morning, now it ain't (must be after dark)...............

I run a dome light, 2 reading lights and the fantastic fan off the battery. The b/t jr. always charges it up overnight... but, none of these items are on all the time.

I like the b/t jr because it plugs directly into a power strip... the bigger unit (1.25 amps) has to be mounted remotely as a separate item.

All b/t's as far as I know come with clamps and terminals as bat connecting options... the 12v line out of the b/t has an electrical connector in the middle of the output line so you can plug in either option...

take a look at page 14, I think the second pic.. the b/t is plugged in and I have it held in place with a piece of stiff wire that wraps around it and is screwed to the bulkhead.
