good find MK! these pictures helped out a bit....if i do happen to end up going this route i will definitely be adding the a frame tongue. I think my main concern with this trailer was the axle and if it was in an ok position...from the looks of sid's trailer...it looks like it is...but who am i to say so?!

I had another question on the trailer..it looks to me that this trailer has its outer edge sticking up..does that make sense? like it would require a 2/4 (or something smaller) standing up right to be able to get the floor onto the frame. is this how the rest of you NT people did so?

You might have to modify the Door placement because of the axle. But I dont think that is a big deal.

I would build up the floor to make it level with the top of the side rail. You could rip 2x4 to make 2x2's to lay in there. Or use the 2x2 instead of the 1x2 on your floor Step in the Gen Ben Plans.

The problem with that is attaching the side walls. You would have to drill holes in the side rail and run screws through to the 2x2's to hold the side wall.

Not sure if this is good advice, might need to get more input here.

ah...so you did use somethign sitting on its side. how did you in turn bolt all of this to the trailer securely? what fastener did you use and did you have to drill holes in the trailer yourself for these?

Other people have done this differently, this is just the way I did mine. Read the forum, ask questions and then build it your way.

I used 3/8" x 4" Carriage bolts. If you look closely you can see the head of some of the Carriage bolts. I used 4 on each side and two on the ends.

First I built the floor frame and set it on the trailer.

Then I marked the location of where the carriage bolts would go. Using a wood bit slightly larger than the diameter of the carriage boilt head I drilled a recesseed hole about a 1/8" deep where each carriage bolt would go.

Then using the center of the holes I made with the wood bit I drilled down through the 2x4 with a 3/8" bit into the trailer frame. You will need a bit at least 4" long to go through the 2x4 and trailer frame.

I then removed the floor frame and painted the underside of the floor frame with this Fence Post tar like paint. After it dried I put the floor frame back on the trailer frame, secured it to the trailer frame with the carriage bolts using a lock washer and nut. Then I painted the rest of the floor frame with this fence post paint. Note, wear gloves it's messy. You could paint the entire floor frame, put it on the trailer frame and then drill your holes. The way I did it worked better for me.
